Does anyone know if there is a way to read an Engine/Transmission number like a Vehicle Identification Number(VIN) to verify that it is the original motor/Tranny with my 09 Accord? Thanks.

Have not really looked on G8 but you have the sticker on front timing cover and i think ID# for motor is in back of starter area on block , just below head deck.
tranny number should be on top.
VIN# numbers are on dash and stamped on the engine
compartment bulkhead.

I guess he's asking how to know if those numbers are original for the car. As Schu said, you can verify engine with window sticker, but not tranny. If you don't have window sticker (the paper taped to window on new cars), I don't know if you can look for that info elsewhere.

May I ask why? Do you suspect something was replaced on your car? Are you planning to keep it 50 years and sell it as a classic :lmao:? Just kidding man. Good luck.

I picked up *brand new* 09 EX from dealer two weeks ago. Yesterday my friend and I opened hood and found there were some wired things. Take a look these,
There are no blue or red line marked on engine/tranny mount bolts and some important clips/pipe connecters. Now I am so scared if the engine/tranny or something is not original parts from manufacture.
The car does not go to any garage and I did not open the hood to anyone else yet. If you guys have any experience please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, that's weird. Those marks on the big bolts are from tightening (probably with the wrong sized socket), but don't see marks from loosening them, although that doesn't mean they weren't. However, from those hose clamps, it's obvious some work was done there.

Having said that, it's not uncommon for dealers to perform work if something is not right. It's basically the same thing as finding the same problem later on and getting it fixed under warranty.

The only little detail I find problematic is dealer should have disclosed any problems with the car, and let the customer decide if he wants to buy that car or another. Probably nobody does that, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't. I'd have been pissed off too. I don't think you can do anything about it now, but I'd certainly ask dealer what the hell they did to my car. It should be recorded on their system. Keep us posted buddy.

i think you are over reating a bit and being a little paranoid.

you can lift up the car and look around underneath. there should be a VIN plate riveted onto the engine block and transmission housing somewhere.

Those marks are called Factory Inspection Marks... while EVERY car should and does have them, in the same colors in the same positions(on the IMPORTANT areas... which tubes and lines are not considered but major bolts and structural areas are), they are never exactly the same on any two cars.

That breather line in the second picture HAS moved. but that is really not an indication of anything bad
