View Full Version : Too much for a salvaged S2k? (missing a few things)

That a good deal? How much would the missing interior pieces cost to replace?
MSchu 12-08-2008, 06:18 AM Man... that looks good for a salvage title unit. If you goal is to make it OEM again, then you may do better by buying a complete car... if you are making a track car that look like a good starting point, not really a smoking deal. If you could get it for 10 or under... NOW you have a smoking deal.
I wanted to ad... that's a pretty cool site
psyshack 12-08-2008, 10:55 AM Yep,, that cars street days are best left over. Race car would be its mission.
tnel2005 12-08-2008, 11:01 AM would cost way too much to replace all that interior stuff just buy a used one not salvaged!
kopimon 12-08-2008, 11:22 AM How long should I expect a well-maintained S2K to last as a street car?
I know it's common for Accord, Civs and Odys to go above and beyond 200k, but does the same apply for an S2K? Those cars tend to be driven harder, are subject to more wear, etc etc
AznX TL 12-08-2008, 12:50 PM the f20c/f22c is built like a beast, but their weak rear differentials are something to worry about...
Accordlover 12-08-2008, 02:20 PM The orig S2k was more of a racer if you ask me.
Not to mention easily found for less than 10k.
Osiris_x11 12-08-2008, 02:27 PM New(er) S2K values are droppin' like boat-anchors, as of late. However, the early model-year AP1's are holding well, relatively speaking (obviously after initial depreciation has leveled off).
www.s2ki.com is an excellent site to gain insight on the S2000. Though, the amount of tuner-culture all around the S2K is something I'm not too keen towards.
Given the choice, admittedly, I'd take a 986 Boxster-S or 987 Boxster over the AP1/AP2 S2000's, respectively.
All-in-personal preference. . .

What year are the originals? 2000?

I'd build up a civic if I wanted to invest in tuning. I like the S2K because from what (little) I understand so far, it's a solid, fun car the way it is stock.
Do the Porsches go for about the same? Personally I'd choose the S2K because of maintenance cost alone

2000-2003
SatinSilver 12-09-2008, 09:06 AM I remember test driving one and a girl in a Cougar hatchback beat me off the line. I was kinda distracted talking to the salesman but still could barely keep with her. Kinda ruined the whole experience.

Agreed. I'd love an S2k, but the tuner crowd that comes with it (and the Civic Si) keep me away from them.

IMO you do not get a s2k for straight line performance. It is like a rx-8 in that regard, excellent handling right out of the box.
