You can always wipe them dry before you leave in the morning. Saves you the expense of buying heated mirrors. They were not available in the 2003 Accord, but maybe offered in later years of the 7th Gen. I squee-gee my rear window to remove the morning dew before I leave...helps accelerate the rear defrost.
fame925 12-10-2008, 03:18 PM true and i do that sometimes but 10 mins later its fogged up again. :dunno: ....better off just buying it

I am down in Los Angeles, so since you are in the bay area, there is probably more moisture in the air to cause it to fog up again. If they offered heated mirrors in the 7th Gen Accord, you should be able to do a swap. Have you searched eBay?
Sworkhard 12-10-2008, 09:50 PM The 05 + models have heated mirros in the US (at least on ex-l models). In Canada we've had them since 03. I know because I have an one with heated mirrors, and they work really well.
Aceman196 12-10-2008, 11:34 PM Used mine once. But glad its there. My windshield fogs up more than anything.
f1snob 12-11-2008, 05:21 AM I love the heated mirrors. Although I keep my car in the garage, after I leave the gym in the morning or work in the evening, they are usually fogged up this time of year. The heaters clear them in a matter of seconds. I wish my seat heaters worked as quick.
Anyway, I know there are a few pick-a-parts around you somewhere. There is also a huge parts recycler in Rancho Cordova. These might be your best bet if not Ebay.

Correction, its 06 and newer models have heated mirrors on the EX-L models. I love my heated mirrors especially in the rain, it clears out all the water and leaves you a dirty, but dry mirror which inspires confidence.
fame925 12-11-2008, 08:21 AM yea ive checked ebay and they dont have what im lookin for...but im thinkin if the 06+ models have them then i could go to honda and see if i could get a pair...they should fir my 04 right?..
also i was lookin around (dont remember where) and someone was talkin about the Acura TSX mirrors and that they would fit on the 7th gen accords...anyone know if this is true?
EJ1120 12-11-2008, 09:38 AM I just got my tsx mirrors painted graphite pearl, which ill be installing in place of the stock 06EX-L sedan mirrors. The stock heated mirrors will be up for sale as soon the install is done.
fame925 12-11-2008, 09:48 AM SOUNDS GOOD! post pix if you can when its done...let me know how the TSX mirrors turned out...and if they fit well on yours they should fit on an 04 right?..i may wanna go with those
Aviography 12-11-2008, 10:58 AM Correction, its 06 and newer models have heated mirrors on the EX-L models.
Hmmmm, my 05' EX-L has heated mirrors, could this be a cold-temperature Canadian package?
trainchaser 12-11-2008, 02:44 PM ...my EXL is an '05, and it has the heated mirrors, I'm in Victoria BC, so maybe it is a Canadian thing. My '99 Acura also had them, they are an amazing option that you don't want to be without once you've had experience using them...

Aviography 12-11-2008, 04:20 PM Slightly OT, I wished the windshield had embedded fine wire heating element like the ones in a rental Ford Modeo I had in Europe earlier this year, it was a God-send when I came out of the hotel in the morning with a thick layer of snow/ice, it disposed of the ice at even quicker rate than the rear window since there were far more elements on the front window.
I sure wished my car had this featuer last night when I got back to airport parking after a couple of days of inclement weather while I was out of town, my wiper blades were frozen to the windshield, and the ice/snow needed a lot of scraping (and cursing too!).
thomasbus337 12-11-2008, 05:11 PM Heated mirors can be easily added and there are several ways to do it, depending on how involved you want to get. I added a pair of Accord Hybrid mirrors to my old 03 EX V6 sedan which gave me the heated mirrors. I also picked up the oem power mirror switch and door wiring harness for the Accord hybrid and wired it up that way and everything looks oem. You also might be able to just order the replacement mirror heads from Honda for a 06-07 that snap into your existing mirror housings and then just run your own wiring into the car and hook it up to a toggle switch. My 07 Accord came with heated mirrors already, so when I added the hybrid mirrors to this car I had less wiring. In any case, I love heated mirrors and they are handy on more than just cars. My work vehicle has six exterior mirrors and thankfully they are all fully heated, because in my line of work you need to be able to see everything in these mirors at all times!

Until a rock chips or cracks that windshield; I'm sure that is more than a grand to replace. :paranoid:

Perhaps, however I would still prefer having it even if it means slightly higher deductable on insurance claim.
For the record, I've logged 800,000 kilometers in my 25 years of mostly highway driving, and only had 1 cracked windshield that had to be replaced, stone chips can easily be fixed these days.
It will be worthwhile for me on those cold winter days when even winter formulation washer fluid ices up on the windshield and obscures visibility!
bok269 12-11-2008, 08:57 PM To help with the interior fogging up, run the A/C with the heat all the way up. Over the past few days we have had temperatures in the low 40s and pouring rain. Without the A/C on I wouldn't have been able to see outside. Also, the defroster works pretty well on condensation on the rear window.

yea i was thinkin of gettin the hybrid mirrors or 06-07 heated mirrors..but after i saw the TSX mirrors ive wanted those ...probably because of the blinker comes with it too...im just waiting to make sure they fit
thomasbus337 12-13-2008, 11:02 AM I went with the 06-07 hybrid mirrors and they came with signals built in and they are heated. They'll fit perfectly on the sedans and the best part for you is that the hybrids came in Graphite pearl so right out of the box you can hook them up. I had to have mine painted to match Alabaster silver.
rszappa1 12-13-2008, 11:36 AM How do you wire in the heated part. Is the hookup already there??
SteveV 12-14-2008, 09:15 AM Correction, its 06 and newer models have heated mirrors on the EX-L models.
Correction, also the 06+ EX models (cloth) have heated mirrors too.
rszappa1 12-14-2008, 10:13 AM I have an 07 se without heated mirrors. Are the hookups already there to install heated...
A_Boudreau 12-14-2008, 10:20 AM My dad lives in Canada and he had a 2005 EX-L (4-cylinder) and his has heated side mirrors but my EX-V6 Navi does not?
Aviography 12-14-2008, 10:52 AM So this could very well be a Canadian only winter package, just like the larger windshield washer fluid reservoir on the Canadian models.

NICE!! I'll probably go with that then. Thanx  ... I can get these from honda right?
MRROLO150 12-18-2008, 06:15 AM My friend has the Hybrid mirrors and they have the heated functionality... and my other friend just installed the TSX mirrors which also have the heated functionality.. so you do have options.
fame925 12-18-2008, 09:02 AM in your opinion (and theirs) what looks/works better?
Paulius005 12-18-2008, 10:53 AM Are there any options for heated mirrors for an 06 coupe? :(

Bruce Hawkins 12-19-2008, 11:19 AM I was planning to add heated mirrors, to my car as well.
Seance Canadian 6-Gen's, have this option, I was planning to add them to my 6-Gen.
My question, is will other Gen's mirrors, work on my car?

I have a 2005 EX-L and DO NOT have heated mirrors. FYI.
rszappa1 12-19-2008, 12:13 PM I guess I will ask the question again. I have a 2007 Accord without heated mirrors. If I install the heated type is the wiring already in place or does it have to be wired in.....
thomasbus337 12-19-2008, 12:39 PM I'm thinking no, if you don't already have heated mirrors from the factory then the wiring isn't going to be there. I say this because I checked on a honda parts site and the part# for the driver's door harness is the same for the LX/SE I4 but it doesn't interchange with the harness from an EX I4. They can be wired up though with a little work. I've lost track of the original plan, are you doing TSX/Hybrid mirrors or are you just retrofitting a set regular heated mirrors from a 06-07 Accord EX. If you are only interested in having heated mirrors you can buy the replacment mirror heads from a 06-07 Accord EX for about 20 bucks each online and swap the heated heads with your existing mirror housings and then run your own power and ground wires to the back of the mirror and then mount a toggle switch and you'd be all set.
rszappa1 12-19-2008, 01:41 PM This is my first honda. Is there a seperate switch for the mirrors? I have has Chrylers in the past and the heated mirrors were wired into the rear window defroster switch..
Bruce Hawkins 12-19-2008, 02:06 PM You need the factory manual with the wiring diagram. On my 2001 there are only minor differences. The mirror taps into the existing wiring, but it takes a different plug, so it has to be rewired, or spliced. And you need a different door switch and some more minor wiring.

fame925 12-23-2008, 09:11 AM k i need some help...
So i went to the Honda Dealership yesterday and i asked them if they have the heated mirrors for hybrids. They said yes but it wouldnt work for my car because the wiring harnesses are different and they 're not sure if they need to change out the whole door harness and put the hybrid harness in there to make it work...
So what i need to know is what did you (people who did this already) have to do to put in the hybrid/acura mirrors in? What do i need to make this work? And what could i expect for all of this to cost?
thanks you guys

Yes, but do you really need the entire mirror housing? IIRC, the glass has the element built in so you'll just need to pick up heated glass inserts and wire from the switch to the element. So get the Hybrid/EX-L switch below, heated glass inserts and the wiring harnesses for both doors, should be good to go. Better off getting this stuff from a salvage yard.

fame925 12-23-2008, 02:18 PM NO. Not Really What i wanna do. Thanks but im kinda set on the hybrid mirros, if im paying to get this done then i want the blinker and everything done right.
inspiration 12-25-2008, 12:57 AM My buddy JDM Inspire side mirrors are the heated, side blinkers, and folding. But I haven't find the instructions to wire it up. You guys got any links for me?

Wow, so you just swapped the door wiring harnesses in your '03 with the accord Hybrid, and the heat / turn signal functions of the mirror worked perfectly?
Any more info?
I just may have to try this

so if I have an 06 EX I4 with heated mirrors, can I hookup the 06 hybrid mirrors without any extra wiring needed? Do you have to take off the door panel in order to access the complete wiring harness (based on the diagram in the service manual)? Or can you get away with just taking off that little plastic triangle piece in order to unbolt the mirrors?

Haven't you been reading the previous posts? :naughty: You will need to wire the signals either by running wires, or salvaging the harnesses out of a TSX or Hybrid. The only wiring you'll have in your EX's door is for the power mirror / heat function.

yes I read (skimmed over) them, but it wasn't clear. It sounded like extra wiring was needed for 03-05 regardless if EX or LX or whatever. but thomasbus337 made it sound like it would install much easier on 06-07 with heated mirrors already (i.e. EX)
thomasbus337 12-27-2008, 06:15 AM Yes, if you are installing TSX or Hybrid mirrors and you already have heated mirrors then you only need to run one extra wire from each door to your signal wires. I removed the front door panels and the front speakers to use the speaker hole for access to be able to feed the wire through the door harness to the inside of the car, from there I ran the wires to the back where I spliced them with the rear turn signals in the trunk area.
SteveV 12-27-2008, 07:57 AM thanks. For 06-07 models, Can you elaborate more on the signal wire connection to the Hybrid mirror if you don't buy the hybrid door wire harness? Does the Hybrid mirror have two plugs on it or just one?
I think it just has one plug with a short wiring harness. Does it plug into the EX door harness plug? And then within that short harness from the mirror, you can tap into the signal wire? What are the signal wire colors for each mirror?
Also, I know the silver colors are different between the regular Accord and Hybrid. But do you think the mirrors are close enough and don't need to repainted for the alabaster silver?
greg-ster 12-27-2008, 01:16 PM Yes, if you are installing TSX or Hybrid mirrors and you already have heated mirrors then you only need to run one extra wire from each door to your signal wires. Did you have to splice wires in your '03, or was replacing the door wiring harness all you needed to do to get turn signal mirrors in the '03?
Thanks!
thomasbus337 12-28-2008, 08:08 AM When I did the Hybrid mirrors on my 03 I bought the front left and right door harness and power mirror switch from a 06-07 Hybrid. I didn't replace the harnesses I just cut off the pigtails that I needed and spliced them in with the existing door wiring. I did it this way so I would have the correct connectors to plug into the mirrors and the back of the switch. The only new wires I needed to run were the signal wires and a positive wire from the left door to the right door for the mirror heat.
When I did the mirrors on my 07 I didn't buy any extra Hybrid hardwear other than the mirrors. I just clipped off the connectors from my original mirrors and spliced them in with the hybrid mirrors and this time I only had to run the signal wires.

did you reuse the hybrid mirrors from your 03 and had them repainted? I was curious if the Hybrid silver color is close enough to the regular silver and doesn't need repainted?
also are you saying that the Hybrid mirror plug will not plug into the factory EX door plug? You have to cut off both plugs and just splice the wires together (plus run the signal wire)?
sorry for all the questions. I am hoping that they plug together, then you just tap into the signal wire on the hybrid mirror side of the harness and run the wires to the trunk area for the signals. That way it would be very easy to return back to the stock mirrors instead of cutting the stock plug off.
thomasbus337 12-28-2008, 02:56 PM Nope, the hybrid mirrors are still on the 03, I sold that car to my sister, so the mirrors stayed and I ordered a new pair for the 07. The plugs for the OEM 06-07 mirrors are different than the plugs for the hybrid mirrors. I only cut off the plug from the old mirror and the plug for the new mirror, so when I was done splicing new mirror with old plug, It is pretty much plug n play, the wiring harness and plug on the door weren't touched so it would be easy to go back to stock. I ordered the mirrors in the silver color from the hybrid and while it is close, in certain lights I could tell that the mirrors had a hint of blue and the car was a bit more tan. Luckily I took some pics before I had them painted alabaster silver to match.

SteveV 12-28-2008, 05:04 PM thanks for your help. Yeah, they definately needed repainted in alabaster silver. I'm not sure if I'm going to tackle this project or not at this point.
