lldsandsll 12-11-2008, 11:15 AM u can get a device from an auto shop or hardware store that will tap into a wire to show if the wire is live. a little bulb will light up if the wire is live.

dakid1091989 12-11-2008, 11:39 AM woah what your power outlet?
yea im kind of a noob and i though it would work and found out it didnt!!
im just worried when i send them in for retrofitting they wont work so i wanna test everything and make sure it all works!
bruceleroy 12-11-2008, 11:44 AM yea i wouldnt think it would work since the wattage in your outlet should be too strong.

Stick it in one more time it will work!
You probably screwed your hid's up already. If you want to know, your outlet = AC current.
your hid's require DC current which is what the car's battery produces. So if you think about it REALLLLLY REALLLLY hard, you can connect the wires to your cars battery to see if it works rather than sticking it into your outlet.

no my headlights into tsx projectors
_JuztaJ_ 12-11-2008, 12:03 PM heres a little FYI since your kinda of a "noob", dont touch the bulbs.. the oils from your hands will ruin them so be delicate when messing with them
Jakerx 12-11-2008, 12:12 PM Just to make sure it wasn't the HID kit that is to blame, try sticking two paperclips into the outlet with both hands. That will determine whether or not the outlet is working properly.

AccordEXxx 12-11-2008, 12:21 PM no my headlights into tsx projectors
and your using a PnP kit?
08SV6C 12-11-2008, 01:27 PM AccordEXxx, the power outlet does not provide AC current. The center pin is 12V DC and the outer metal sleeve is chassis ground.
dakid1091989, I presume that you touched the burnt male spade lug to the center pin and the outer metal sleeve, shorting the 12V DC to ground.
If you used the Front Accessory Power Socket you probably blew Fuse No. 23 (15A) in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box; or if you used the Console Accessory Power Socket you probably blew Fuse No. 12 (15A) in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Get a test light, or but an electrical meter. They are cheap, and you can test for voltage, verify if fuses are blown, etc.

Aviography 12-11-2008, 06:02 PM OP,
Did you really stick in those contacts in your picture into the wall receptacle????
Well, if you did, then your ballast is most likely toast........
Unless you mean you tried to use the cigaratte lighter?
