umm..thats like asking are goodyear tires good? you gotta be a lil more specific with the brand you are looking for. personally you will be best off with a set of goodrich traction ta Vs. or Yokohoma Avid V4s from tirerack.

assuming you are 15" tires you should have life pretty easy for you at under 60 a tire. i wouldnt recommend kumho for harcore rain, they only rank at best a 7.5 on a 10 scale at tirerack.com. check it out.

i'm looking on tirerack now, looking atthe reviews.....the majority of people rank the touring 732 pretty well in wet traction at highway speeds......

stiller-i loved the goodrich tractions i had on my first civic!!! no experience with kumho though.

but the goodrich's were awesome in this climate. they'd run circles around all of the oem tires on each of my hondas. a little rougher ride, but othe than that they were awesome! i can't remember the size of my old civic's wheels though. but i thinkt he tires were about $65 each, moounted and all. ;)

Kumho is a decent tire it just depends on model.. .
I have seen several M45 Infiniti's and new TL's running them.
I was looking at them for this last replacement but the Kelly's were such a good deal. 350 set out the door. I had to get done Quick so they fit the bill.
Kelly-Springfield is a subsidiary of Goodyear(Without the high advertisement cost) they make it back on Vogue Brand.
You could also check around for Coopers.

here are a couple of tires that I use:

Sumitomo HTR 200 195/60-15 $43.00 - Tirerack

I run these tires on my 1971 Plymouth Duster. The perfect tire for my application. Read the reviews

Firestone Affinity LH30 195/60-15 $61.00 - Tirerack

I run these tires on my Daughters and son's cars (2003 Honda Civic EX coupe 185/65-15) & (1999 Dodge Neon 185/65-14). These are great tires that you can purchase cheaper from a local Firestone dealer. Quite, good in the rain/snow, a perfect rated H rated tire for your application. I know you will loves these tires, again read the reviews.

Hope that helps.

well, after all this, i did settle for the kumho touring 732 on all 4 corners..... i remember having them before, and i i think i liked them, but i didn't use them much cause someone slashed all of them (never found out who did it--- happened on NAS Norfolk). :furious:

Sorry Stiller, this might be a little late. I have the Tourings on my Accord and have mixed reviews. I probably drive a little fast in turns, but I feel like these tires definitely MAGNIFY understeer. Other than that, no complaints. They are reasonably quiet and seem to have excellent tread life. I haven't checked the wear rating of the tires, but the excellent tread life and understeer probably are related.

do you like them in the rain on the highway?

Greg

In the rain on the highway they are good. They tend to hydroplane a little, but not as bad as some of the tires I've had on other cars. They are also quite good in the snow - no scary moments this last winter.

I have Ecsta HP4 716 on my 02 Altima... replaced the stock Conti's with Kumhos at 20,000 miles as Contis gave me close to 0 resistance to hydroplaning...

Anyway, I have been very happy with Kumhos. I have been driving them close to 16,000 miles now and they have been excellent + I can't even tell they are wearing? Go figure...

Few things about them:

They are rated to inflate to 35 psi max. If you are one of people that are overinflating their tires - this might not be the best.

They kick butt in rain in my opinion. I live in Texas (DFW) and when it rains here - it rains bucketloads. I feel very secure and never had any issues with those tires.

If you park your car for few days and then go drive it - you will notice that those tires do flatspot. Not a problem after few miles, but something to keep in mind (you might notice steering vibration until the flatspotting goes away as the tire rolls and warms up).

They were cheap. I think I paid under $300 to buy 4, have them shipped to me and installed at Walmart (for $10 a pop) in 16 inch size (don't remember exact dimensions now) from Tirerack.

Overall - I have been pleased. Oh yeah, they are definitely quieter than my Contis ever were. Plus, seeing I am somewhat of the MPG tracking nut - I did not notice any MPG decrease compared to low rolling resistence Contis I had as OEM equipment. I know it's not on the Honda but there you go.

I have Kuhmo Esta 712s(215 55 16) on my '03 I4 EX-L and I am disappointed...I am actually changing them next week. They have very little traction in the rain and the steering dynamics of this tire are average at best. Going up hills in wet weather...I easily spin my tires, if I am not careful accelerating. I had read some good reviews on the tire Rack web site but I have certainly not had the same good experince. I have decided to try the Yokohama Avid V4S(215 55 16) and see how they go. The Yoks measuremants are also almost the same as the Michelins MXV4s.

Hey stiller

I've currently got the hp4s on a Rav4 and they perform excellent, and I have always had good luck with Kuhmos.

The hp4s have great dry traction (much better than the bridgestones they replaced), and seem confident in the wet as well.

I've used the kuhmo 712s and one other model on an integra, and the ASXs on my subaru...all were top notch.

I plan to use the Hp4s on my accord when the stockers wear out.

hi, i been a repeated kumbo user about 3 sets tires so far and all of them are very good but the high performance z-rated or h rated category on rainy season there ok but on dry roads they perform very well and also their very quite while driving on the road. Now i have there newly introduced kumbo asx all season tires. This rubber on dry or wet roads give very good traction and grips the road. How do i know this because i tested it out and i very pleased with result. Also their very affortable!!

I ran 712's (205/45/17) all of last summer and think that it was by far the best bang for your buck  . They handled light-years ahead of the stock Michilen, but after all the Kumho is a summer tire. On the down side the wet traction is not as high as I would have liked, but all that means is slow down in the wet which isn't a bad idea to start with. Over all you can't go wrong with Kumho's.

Are you running 15" rims/tires? :dunno:

I am still undecided to go to 16" rims and tires....I actually pulled 2 Traction T/A s off my old car for the accord... :dunno:

Has anyone ever used Kumho on Accord LX?

Here is full specs from tire rack:
Kumho Solus KH16 (Grand Touring All-Season)
for 2003 Honda Accord Sedan LX 4cyl
Size: 205/65HR15
Blackwall, HR Speed Rated
Price: $45.00 (each)

I am planning to buy them online at tire tack and then install and balance them at ~$10 each. With that and shipping they will come at ~$65 each.
Is there any better alternative to doing that? Like, buy + install + rotate at some local stores like Walmart, etc. for the same price?

Thanks!

Hey Stiller, how do these tires perform relating to rolling noise? As you know in Accords tire noise is pretty audible from the interior, at least it is my impression, so I have been evaluating changing my Michelin MXV's for a quieter set, and I was seriously considering Kumho as an option, so your comments will be highly appreciated to take my decision. Thanks.

well, on my car, it's more wind noise than anything else....

on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being silent, i'd give the kumho's, on blacktop, a 6.5-7
