Hi guys,

I got a CEL the other day when it was raining like hell in Philly, which might have had something to do with it. That or when I spun out in the highway a few days prior. Regardless I know I took care to avoid large pools of water (and there was plenty of flooded areas).

I did some research and also took the car to Autozone today and checked it with the OBD-II scanner and it threw a code: P0141. It mentions that the "a malfunction exists in the heater circuit for oxygen sensor 2 in bank 1" with probably causes

1. oxygen sensor defective
2. poor connection at oxygen sensor
or
3. check circuit fuse.

I'd like to know if there's anything I myself can try to fix this or am I SOL. I have the remainder of the 100k, 7yr warranty and I also purchased an extended warranty when I purchased this car certified used. Would this be covered under any of those and if not what kind of prices am I looking at?

Thanks ahead of time guys.

Did you purchase the "full" certified coverage.
There's two kinds, powertrain or complete.

If you got the complete coverage, which would have cost you about 1k, it would be.

More than likely the sensor's heater is bad, requiring replacement of the sensor.

They aren't that expensive, but you should get a Honda one as most aftermarket sensors are NOT wired correctly and can lead to the same code or worse.

If you can safely raise the car, take a look at the after catalyst sensor, make sure it's not broken off or the wires damaged, although damaged wiring would lead to more codes than just the heater circuit.
Honda usually puts both sensor's heaters on the same fuse, so I don't think it's a fuse issue.

Yeah, the extended warranty I purchased at the dealer when buying the car was 980 I believe.

I'll definitely call the dealer to check with them.

Changing it myself though... Its cold as heck outside but... I've been meaning to get a jack and jackstands. Its about time to change the oil and transmission fluid, and I'll be damned if I pay someone else to do it (it'd be my first time for both).

Thanks for the info!
