geez, i can name all the movies i have (i think).
i cant. last count we had 336 DVDs.
voted for star wars
princess 05-05-2005, 12:36 PM We started buying late....not until we added surround sound....before that we only rented. :)
Hey Dave, when you buy the ones that have the those funky cardboard holders, do you put them (cover & all) into a plastic box? We almost always do. They line up on the shelves better that way!
not sure what you mean by funky cardboard holders. all the DVDs we have came in the plastic holders.
benjamming 05-05-2005, 04:35 PM It's funny for me to hear folks talk about their "stash" of movies they have on DVD. We have maybe 3 movies & they are on VHS. We don't have a DVD player. Well, yeah we do, on the computer. We have a 19" TV that's about 10 years old. And I'm only 27. Just think by the time I'm 40, I'll really be behind! :D
BTW, Who is Kevin Smith?
stevel 05-05-2005, 04:54 PM office space is the best.

the guy in the lower right with the beard
we also have about 200 movies on VHS, the majority of them are taped PPV movies.
Inspector1 05-06-2005, 04:05 AM What about " The Rocky Horror Picture Show"???
I1 :)
princess 05-06-2005, 05:13 AM Plastic....every now & then a company goes cheap....like the Harry Potter movies, for example....& put them in a hard cardboard cover. They're slightly bigger & don't line up flush on the shelf. I really hate that! Since he makes our home movies into DVDs he ordered a bunch of cases. Most of them hold 1, but he has them that hold up 7. So I go get one & put the paper with the picture inside just like the majority of the store bought ones & move them.
I1, good call, it has quite a following!
benjamming, I have many friends & family like you! I think we went to DVD & surround sound for the "booms". You can feel the explosions! :D Another plus is that you actually can hear the small sounds without having it up loud. It's so cool when the jets come from one corner & go to another, just like in the theaters! Before we had the sound system it wasn't important to us to own movies. Why bother? We'd seen it, & there was almost no enjoyment for us to see it again. It's completely different now. So we were one of the last one the block to go to DVD, but it's something we really like now!!!
anysia 05-06-2005, 05:48 AM darnit... see i know i'd forget big ones that others knew of.... oh well.....
i1, can you modify the poll choices?? princess couldn't (and i can't).
i have alot more cd's than i have movies because i enjoy music more than movies, but i guess i do have a decent size movie collection & access to many other movies through my family. my sister is a movie nut. i currently have her "how to loose a guy in ten days", "kissing a fool", and something else.
anysia 05-06-2005, 05:50 AM princess~i don't have a sound system... :bawl: couldn't really max out the use of it in my apartment anyway! ;) someday when i'm back in a single family house..... which is not in the foreseable future unless i stumble across one heck of a great deal! so it's all just a dream for now! :)
Wardsweb 05-06-2005, 07:18 AM Well as many of you already know, I'm into audio/video. So, we have way to many movies to count. They fall into basically three catagories; wife, kids and mine. As you may guess, mine are action (Replacement Killers, Star Wars, Underworld, Mission Impossible, etc...), my wife is into "chick flicks" ( Emma, Pride & Prejudice, Sabrina, An Affair to Remember, etc...) and the kid movies (Finding Nemo, Veggie Tales, most anything Disney, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, etc...). I've been spoiled watching movies at home. I now hate the noise and crowds at movie theaters. People just don't have the consideration for others anymore, but that's a whole other soap box. Time to "Rock the House" with some John Woo film.
anysia 05-06-2005, 07:36 AM wards-i'm with you on the noise and crowds in theaters. turns the experience much less enjoyable for me! i haven't gone to a movie in a theater in atleast 5 years!!
but i need a better home set up than my 27 inch tv and dvd player! :lmao: but for now it works! ;)

You can have your cake and eat it too. You don't have to run out and buy some big massive sound system. You have options, several in fact. The number one thing you could do to enhance your movies is buy a self powered subwoofer. Just a small 8" or 10" will add major richness and bang to your system. You can hook your tv to your stereo system. Just take the audio out from the tv to a aux or video in on the stereo. This will give you a lot better sound than the speakers in the TV. It will sound bigger and have more depth. Later you can upgrade to a audio/video receiver that will actually do the surround sound and add another set of speakers. So you see, it can be done a little at a time and as funds permit. I spent over two years getting my system to the level it is now. No you don't have to have as outlandish a system as me to enjoy movies...but it does help :lmao:

first i need a stereo..... :lmao: my cheapo $20 "boombox" broke a couple of weeks ago even! (probably didn't like being in the bathroom all the time.... :stupid: )
can i hook it to the soundsystem in my car?? :lmao: that's the best one i have! (hey it may be the stock system, but it's all good to me! ;) )
note to self~next time don't leave the good aiwa stereo with the ex.......... :bawl:
