View Full Version : Just Got Tein Springs Installed
killacross80 01-06-2009, 12:17 PM And my rears arent as low as I expected. My fronts are good and have very little gap but rears seem to be almost the same as stock.
My friend that installed them said it should drop another 1/4" after riding for a bit. He did state that it is a stagger style but I wish rears was just as low as the fronts. Can anyone make me feel better about this:dunno:

morcheez 01-06-2009, 01:37 PM hmm strange...usually with the different shapes of the wheel wells front/rear the rear usually has less gap ...my back looks lower than the front for sure

coupe_nasty 01-06-2009, 01:49 PM where did u get tien springs from?
08coupe23 01-06-2009, 01:58 PM Get an alignment.....It sounds ridiculous but when I had my A4 dropped on Eibach pro kit, the rear was an inch higher. I drove around for prob a month and then decided to get an alignment. The difference was night and day. It leveled out completely.
Kiribati 01-06-2009, 02:27 PM Tien Lowering Springs.. :thumbsdow
IMO, of course.
killacross80 01-06-2009, 03:30 PM I had my friend order them for me and install them. He runs a shop. It is Tein S-Tech springs.
From what I've heard, Teins have a better ride and everyone speaks highly of them. Im just not pleased with the rear.
If you dont mind me asking, why/how would an alignment lower the rears? He did say it was a stagger style but wish the rears were dropped another inch!
I will have pics up soon as I can.
Super6 01-06-2009, 03:39 PM What is the drop on the tein springs?
orion 01-06-2009, 03:48 PM it seriously hard to make u feel better without pics... maybe compared to ours urs is lower....
elp_jc 01-06-2009, 04:21 PM My question would be: Are they the REAL Teins??? If you bought them on Ebay, they're probably the crappy fakes. Go to their website and read how to tell them apart; I think it's paint vs a sticker.
By the way, an alignment is not going to drop a car unless springs were installed wrong. Take care.
killacross80 01-06-2009, 05:10 PM Yes there real Teins..he is an authorized dealer. I will take pics with my Iphone shortly.
I believe front drops 2". I don't know about the rears.

dennisho18 01-06-2009, 05:36 PM they look good to me, the back will ALWAYS be higher then the front due to the front engine config

Maybe I just have to wait until it settles a bit.

yes, exactly. Im just curious because tien just told me today that they will be releasing springs and coilovers for our cars but not until the end of spring. Not to say your lieing but if they are real, Id like a set of coilovers, lol.

+1, Tiens are built tht way........front springs are lower than rear.
el Vato 01-06-2009, 09:33 PM Wait till they settle. You should see a lower ride height. If it does stay with a raked stance, you'll know that when you carry rear passengers the car will be level. Looks good in my opinion.
zexen 01-06-2009, 10:51 PM if the fronts stay slightly lower for the fronts for the V6'ers, then it would be perfect for the I4 guys.

I think the rear of mine is lower, looks good tho!

Not sure but I do have Tein S-Techs springs installed. It did drop the carand the car's handling did increase and is very noticeable.
08coupe23 01-07-2009, 06:04 AM I have no idea how it would lower the rears but for some reason it did. I can post before and after pics....the difference is unreal.

I will ask my friend about this. Maybe this could help if it worked for your case. Pics would be good if you can post them. Did you get the Eibachs?
killacross80 01-07-2009, 12:14 PM I called Tein and they said that he used the latest Accord version S-Techs springs that is not really designed for the 08 coupe. So I called my friend up and told him this. He said to wait and it will drop another 1/2 inch. If worse comes to worse, he will swap them out ones the 08 versions are available.
I will try to take better pics with a digital camera instead of my Iphone once I get a hold of one.

I had the eibach pro kit springs and shocks for my 2004 A4.
08coupe23 01-07-2009, 12:55 PM These pics are from opposite sides but the car had the exact measurement from ground to fender at each wheel.

You mean your FRIEND sold you springs for 7th gen? :paranoid:
killacross80 01-07-2009, 01:05 PM You mean your FRIEND sold you springs for 7th gen? :paranoid:
Basically..he thought they were for 08 as well. It works but when I spoke to Tein, they said the gap might be slightly larger then the ones that they are making now. He is normally on point with things but he was shocked when I told him what Tein confirmed...thats why he will swap them out when the new ones are available if thats what I want to do.
next_milenium 01-07-2009, 01:12 PM One more thing...could you cut the springs, like 1 or 2 coils (not sure if it's possible) to lower the rear some more? I don't think it will settle enough to leve the car.

I'm not sure if me or my friend would feel comfortable enough to cut the springs. If I am still displeased with the gap down the road, I will ask him to swap them out with the Teins that are designed for the 08 once available. Right now it does have a stagger look to it. Handles great and ride is smooth.
dexterdog 01-07-2009, 02:31 PM The front looks as though you have about as much of a drop as I do with my pro kit. The rear looks like the stock springs. Something is wrong.
