To start I have to say I used to take this awhile back when I was heavily into the gym and I never had any problems with it, until now ...

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago and the past 2 days, I got back on my health kick and decided to take a centrum again after not talking it for at least a year

On all three ocassions (wanted to really make sure it was the vitamin) I took the thing on a full stomach after breakfast and with water ... 10mins after swallowing it I felt like i was gonna die ... Stomach pains, dry mouth and nausea for 30mins, almost made me not go to work one of those days ...

So after it finally went away I thought is this me or maybe its others as well, so i did some research and turns out a ton of people are reporting the exact same issue's that i had in the exact same time frame :dunno:

So today I called the 800 number to report it and the woman told me that others have called as well and that she will be sending me some kind of form to fill out to document it to there health safety department and they advised me not to take it again :lmao:

I asked if they have changed there formula or something as I never have experienced anything like that before so fast and they said they might have increased and decreased some things but wouldn't go into specifics :paranoid:

I am curious if anyone first off takes them and second off has felt weird afterwards, this could be a big deal on the horizon ...

Very weird, i just finished a bottle maybe a month ago with no issues. No telling how old that bottle was though.

Stick with 1 a day FTW.

They did change there quantities of minerals and vitamins recently so that would explain why if you had an older bottle you were ok, as was I because i too used to take it and be ok until now (the new bottles i believe say from A-Zinc on the front and come with a smaller bottle as well)

I take them regularly, no problem unless it's on an empty stomach. Then I get some nausea, but that's from the Iron supplument they use (Ferrous sulfate is known to cause some nausea).

Are they still using Fe-sulfate (last I checked they were)? Have they increased the dose? Maybe they screwed up the new batch formulation and put in too much?

The alternate Ferrous gluconate is less prone to trigger these side effects, but is more expensive.

That would be my guess.

EDIT: Another thought, maybe it's the combination of lycopene (that's new) and the iron that's triggering the sensitivities.

I used to take them, but now just focus on eating right. It costs a little more to buy all these fresh items, but its the natural way.

I used to take them but then started getting pulsating pains across the abdominal area. Got so bad that I had to go to my doctor. Found out it was the Centrum. Quit taking them & the pain went away. Extra expense went away too!

I've taken them for years.... if on an empty tummy, I'll get extremely queasy. If I take them with water, I'll get queasy. If I take them with my OJ, then I can eat my breakfast a little later & not get queasy at all.

My daughters are the same way. We also don't absorb the "normal" ferrous sulfate type iron. We HAVE to use the other kind when we need some extra. I don't seem to absorb vitamin D either. Spine doc put me on it & my levels didn't move even when taking 2000 units in addition to the multi-vitamins. :dunno:

The week I have a horrible rash all over my face & neck! I TOUCHED containers of "Pro-active" face stuff. I'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide. At first you could see a few finger prints of pink where I'd touched my face. Then it spread! So now my whole face from my forehead to nearly my whole neck is all rashy & swollen! I've been watching for a swollen throat since I've never reacted this much before. I've been taking Benedryl, so I'm sleepy. I'm being a hermit. I don't want to scare the neighbors!!:paranoid: My eyelids are swollen & puffy too. I'm quite a sight right now!!:alien: Little early for Halloween!!:lmao:

I hope you have an epi pen handy? They're not too expensive, and with that kind of allergic reaction not a bad thing to have around in your emergency kit, just in case.

Nope, I don't. I've had a rash from the stuff a handful of times over the years. Mostly when we had teenagers around. This is THE worst it's ever been!

The spreading seems to be done, now it's just waiting for the leaving. I feel like there's acid on my skin & when it's done it will peel. Maybe it will take a few lines with it!!:lmao: My luck it will make more!
