Yep, some sad pathetic excuse of a person keyed my front passenger window:censored:. I took it by the dealership today and they recommended that I replace the door (jk). No but seriously they want $450 to fix it:deal:. $300 to replace the window and $150 to retint the window. I tried to tell them that were in The Great Depression part Deux but they wanted no part of it:dunno:. I guess I'll take it up the rear on this one:notworthy.

I got my entire car tinted for $160!! Tell them to stick it and go elsewhere. Check with a pro glass shop for the window & install.

$150 for 1 window of tint? I did my front two windows in the truck (Back three tinted at factory) for $50 bucks and it iwas 3M tint.

Time to look for anyone else.

Go to the junk yard and buy a window for your car there. Then get it tinted and installed. You could do this all yourself. It is really easy to do.

From what I gather the key cut into the glass, right? Must have used a damn ice pick. I watch where I park all the time, either arseholes or idiots, the results are the same. Hope that you run into the SOB and either key them or dot his eye.

...I use to cut on a glass surface of my desk with an X-ACTO knife all the time...I could never scratch or scuff it...I have no idea how you key a window...are there actual scrapes/marks on the window surface? or dings (like rock chips)??? If it is the latter, I would guess the ice pick explanation makes sense...if the OP can clarify what kind of "damage" is on the window, maybe there are suggestions as to how to fix it without having to swap it out for a new one...

**** the dealer. get the window at one of those guys that come to ur house and do it and get tinted for like 35-50 depending on the % of ur tint. i paid 50 bucks to have my 2 front windows down (5%)

We need to cane these goblins like they do in Singapore. Yes, for defacing vehicles. I actually spoke with one of the investigators that interviewed the goblins that did it while I was over there on a separate matter. If my memory serves me right, it was in 94. They spray painted several cars, kicked car doors and broke several car windows with bricks. You can be sure thay won't do it again.

Maybe the key was either diamond or carbide tipped?? :paranoid:

I'm pretty sure he didnt know it was a key and I'm willing to bet it was something harder like a diamond ring or, like some vandals even carry, a carbide glass cutter. Even harder ceramics will scratch glass. I think most keys are just brass with a chrome plating (which is pretty hard too).

daym sorry to hear about what happen... but how do you key a window?? that's just weird... it's usually the paint that gets keyed

You should call an auto glass repair center. Should be a lot cheaper than the dealer. Then have the place that tinted your windows retint the window.
