View Full Version : BlueBatmobile - Overlays Thread
bruceleroy 01-12-2009, 11:28 AM Well im going down to meet up with Bluebat soon so im creating this thread to see what you guys are interested in so we can do the mock ups with my car. So far on my list is the black overlays for the roof, fog lights, headlights, taillights, front fog light housing, front lower bumper, back lower bumper, and some interior pieces i have in mind.
Here is a concept i thought up of and prolly make this happen when i meet up with BlueBat. im really digging the fog light housing overlay, make it almost like a HFP kit. What are you thoughts?

EliteXen 01-12-2009, 11:47 AM I'd love to see blackened fog light housing.
Kiribati 01-12-2009, 11:48 AM I like the smoked headlights and yellow fog lights. Leave the housing the original color.
Actually I'd just smoke the headlights and leave it as that. Why not just get HID (3k?) fog lights (assuming you haven't already)?
I'd love to see blackened fog light housing. He photoshopped it in the 2nd and 3rd picture.

well i have 2K HIDs in the fog lights but you can only tell when they are on. Just a simple overlay for the fog lights will make the front glass of it appear yellow. Just different thats all.
but feel free to shoot me any ideas you guys come up with. im at work right now so i can do any concepts but if you guys let me know your ideas i can create something when i get home so when i get down there ill have a list of things to get started on to save time.
cubanoconhonda 01-12-2009, 11:54 AM bruceleroy, how many shots do you take for your HDR photos?:notworthy
bruceleroy 01-12-2009, 11:56 AM bruceleroy, how many shots do you take for your HDR photos?
normal people take 3 (-2,0,+2) i take 5 (-2,-1,0,+1,+2), i feel its has more contrast.
NomisNY 01-12-2009, 12:20 PM looks nice as do all your pics...
how about blackening the chrome on the sides of the girlle...not the outside rim, but the diamond shape of chrome on the inside of both the right and left sides? does that make ANY sense lol?

max723 01-12-2009, 08:11 PM is bat making overlays for the sedan tails also?
8thGenInspire 01-12-2009, 08:14 PM see what he can do for the sedan's roof, I really want an overlay :D - and I think yellow fogs, and the black foglight housings look good, not the lower bumper lip - those only look good on the 8th gen civic
bruceleroy 01-12-2009, 09:01 PM is bat making overlays for the sedan tails also?
yes he would but i dont have a sedan haha. im working on some rear end overlays for the coupe right now

shamutruck 01-13-2009, 04:36 AM I like the tails with the reverse tinted and not black. Any idea how much?
On the fog lights, they get really hot, will this stuff melt on them?
kopimon 01-13-2009, 06:43 AM I emailed that guy a while ago about taillight tints for the coupe .. he said he needed a test car .. if you can help him get some tints out soon, that would be awesome!

peazs 01-13-2009, 11:07 AM like this?
Sorta... but without the red section of the taillights tinted. The picture you did has the whole taillight tinted rather than just the reverse section. I'm just comparing it with your original image to find the differences.

o so you mean just the reverse smoked and leave the rest alone

bruceleroy 01-15-2009, 06:38 PM Can u do do one with the chrome trimming around the grille as body color but leave the "H" as is chrome? Thanks!!!!!

bruceleroy 01-15-2009, 06:39 PM i dont think bat does body color overlays.
yea he does, well he does for at least infinity cars
AznX TL 01-15-2009, 06:40 PM oh, i thought he always did the basics like black, red, smoke, carbon fiber, ect ect
bruceleroy 01-15-2009, 06:56 PM oh, i thought he always did the basics like black, red, smoke, carbon fiber, ect ect
he does eyelids also so that has to match the car
shamutruck 01-16-2009, 05:01 AM Id be in for front and rear H overlays in PMM for a coupe for sure! I was thinking of strip and paint but this is better.
bruceleroy 01-16-2009, 10:03 AM Id be in for front and rear H overlays in PMM for a coupe for sure! I was thinking of strip and paint but this is better.
once he gets the measurements he can make the H any color.
shamutruck 01-16-2009, 01:00 PM Good deal, put me down for a set of full tail light overlays and the front and rear emblems in PMM for a coupe please.
8thGenInspire 01-16-2009, 03:05 PM :lmao:

bruceleroy 01-16-2009, 03:37 PM does that mean you will?? bruce how bout you just talk to him for me about a sedan black roof overlay - and his plans on it
ill ask him if he wants to do the sedan, he prolly would and would need a donar car also and since your in OC and if your willing to drive down to SD you will do fine. ill keep you updated.

thank you sir :salue:
bruceleroy 01-19-2009, 09:17 AM So i met up with BlueBat this weekend and knocked out alot of the overlay templates. He needs to refine them and send them over to me for fitting which should be in about a week. Keep you guys updated.
v-6 nolo 01-19-2009, 09:21 AM you doing the roof man?
bruceleroy 01-19-2009, 09:24 AM yup im doing it in gloss black, he also has matte black and a good carbon fiber material available.
he is gonna need testers for the items that i am not testing and they will get a special discount when they send pictures of the product on there car back to him for his website. I will keep you guys posted on the items that i will not be testing so let you know how much discount he can give you, i am still working with him to get the final details ready.
v-6 nolo 01-19-2009, 11:00 AM I really want to see what a black gloss roof looks like on PMM...Keep us posted!
bruceleroy 01-19-2009, 11:59 AM same here ;)
peazs 01-19-2009, 01:46 PM I feel you should get them for free rather than a special discount, lol. You're helping him market a new product basically and he'll get much more back in return in the near future.
I approached him almost a year back for the vinyl on the reverse light and he offered a freebie if I was to send back the outline. Never ended up doing it as I never got around to it unfortunately. :(

im getting them for free since i did the templates for him. im talking about for people who are ordering the items that are not tested on my car for example carbon fiber roof. If someone buys the carbon fiber roof from him for full price then sends him pictures of the product on the car he will refund back a discount to them. i hope that makes sense.
WhyNot 01-19-2009, 04:53 PM I would be interested in a black piece for the roof like he does for the civics
bruceleroy 01-19-2009, 04:55 PM
gottcha, they will be on sale once i do the final fitting test
iiokuru 01-20-2009, 09:42 AM How did it go? Did you get it yet??
bruceleroy 01-20-2009, 11:20 AM he got all the measurements and will be sending me the templates soon. Once i get them ill put them on for finalizing and he will start selling them.
iiokuru 01-20-2009, 12:07 PM How do they go on?
bruceleroy 01-20-2009, 12:38 PM its Vinyl so it goes on like tint
iiokuru 01-20-2009, 04:16 PM Does a professional need to install it? If so who? I tint guy?
bruceleroy 01-20-2009, 04:26 PM you can do it yourself if you like or have it professionally installed. im going the pro way because i dont want to mess up.
find a shop that does clear bras because if they can do clear bras they can do this.
DevinKato 01-20-2009, 08:07 PM put me down for fogs and the roof.

Honda247 01-20-2009, 09:15 PM ^ Thanks Bruce.....
iiokuru 01-23-2009, 03:15 PM Just checking to see if they are ready yet. I have a brand new bodyshop here that will do almost everything half off and I was wondering the price of the roof overlay before I contemplate a painted roof...
Thanks
bruceleroy 01-23-2009, 04:08 PM i believe the roof overlay is around $70 not totally sure but thats the prices he has for the other cars. If you can get your roof painted for around $70 then do it but i highly doubt it.
Bodyshops around here at least charges around $500
Mase764 01-26-2009, 07:22 AM i want to do the rear tailights with the reverse cut out.. looks sick
EliteXen 01-26-2009, 12:26 PM Hey Bruce sorry for being impatient but i'm really excited about these, can we get an update on how things are coming along?
SPOO18 01-27-2009, 05:48 AM Question on the roof overlay. Will it also cover the satellite antenna?
bruceleroy 01-27-2009, 09:18 AM Hey Bruce sorry for being impatient but i'm really excited about these, can we get an update on how things are coming along?
he just told me he was swamped with work so one more week. sorry for the delay.
Question on the roof overlay. Will it also cover the satellite antenna?
the roof overlay will not cover the antenna, since its too complex. He said he might supply just a large sheet so you can cover it yourself or just paint it. i might just leave mines alone since its pretty dark already.
bruceleroy 01-27-2009, 09:19 AM thank you sir :salue:
he is interested check your PM
CaMole 02-01-2009, 05:07 PM Is there any updates on this yet? Im interested in the smoked headlights w/ cutouts, smoked tail lights with cutouts, and the yellow fogs. Too bad i hav black and the rest of the stuff wont make a difference... wish i had PMM. BTW do u guys think the yellow fogs will look good on black?

i think quite a few people on this forum have yellow fogs including myself.. not hids though, 2500k nokya hyper yellow lol
Indubitably 02-01-2009, 06:09 PM bruceleroy, how much does that guy charge for the smoked tail lights? i just got my done this week and i live in So. Cal.. it was done in a small tint shop near Alamo Car wash if you know where that is and it costed me $75
zexen 02-01-2009, 08:01 PM Here's the thing about bluebatmobile's vinyl overlays. They are vinyl overlays as opposed to glued tint. These adhere by just the natural stickiness of the vinyl itself, without any glue. Typically these can be taken off after time and not cause damage to your lights, whereas tint film will not peel off clean, and will be permanent.
bruceleroy 02-04-2009, 09:47 AM i might be installing it this weekend, ill keep you guys updated when i do
hondaracer4life 02-04-2009, 10:06 AM Im so anxious to see how it turned out! Your doing the roof black right??

EliteXen 03-05-2009, 04:53 AM I thought So Cal was supposed to be sunny. I guess it's time to break out the bangos and start my anti-rain dance...:notworthy:banana::notworthy:nuts: :lmao:
BoSSy 03-05-2009, 11:23 AM Wonder how it'll look if you body paint match the entire tail light of the coupe from the bottom of the backup light up...taking out the backup light entirely...
uhohkaitlina 03-06-2009, 05:33 AM Depending on the color I think that would look okay.. i dont think it'd look good on red or blue though. (maybe that's just me)
LXSPimp 03-06-2009, 04:11 PM I want the tail light overlay NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:lmao: I know right. We need those overlays now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AznX TL 03-06-2009, 04:24 PM i hope you guys don't depend on your reverse lights much, because you can't see shit after you smoke them.
its all clear in so cal whats the deal ??
sjlee 03-06-2009, 10:27 PM I must be getting old. I have no idea why you'd want to smoke any of the lights on the car. To me, it's a contradiction to install HIDs, then smoke them. :dunno:
morcheez 03-06-2009, 10:51 PM so is it going to " rain" this weekend to ?? :)
skunk2allmotor 03-06-2009, 11:31 PM niceee

bat isnt a company, he's just a normal guy that does overlays when you request him to. and bruce only recently contacted him about the overlays.

3 months ago is recent to you?
Honestly this thread has probably made the wait seem so much longer cause I'm checking it constantly and all I hear is any day now. I'll still buy them if they ever come out, but I stopped holding my breath.

im just waiting for him to send me the final overlays so i can put on my car and show you guys. for some reason he hasnt responded to any of my message, he might be out of town or something.
i am really sorry for making you guys wait but it will be done when its done. he usually works pretty fast so something might have came up for this delay, i did hear that he and his daughter was really sick so that might be it.

I'm not trying to complain or blame anyone. It's just that the wait, coupled with the repeated cycle of anticipation/disappointment, has just left me a bit crestfallen. I still plan to buy them whenever they do get released.
kopimon 04-13-2009, 06:46 PM Here are bluebat's overlays on my car. I love the look of tinted tails on a silver car. These are 20%.
I've never worked with overlays so they didn't go on perfectly smooth .. there are a few ripples and creases. I'll keep them on as a test to see how long they last .. then I may order new ones and get them professionally installed.

haha, thanks. I've had some bad luck lately .. last week I was pulled over for no front plate .. $54 ticket, no biggie
Then today the local PD set up a checkpoint right at the end of the highway exit ramp to my street .. so he stopped me and gave me a ticket for front window tint .. he laughed about my plate with another cop.
He asked me why I don't have a front plate and I just told him I didn't want to get holes drilled in my bumper so I've kept it off, but I got a ticket for it last week and I made an appointment with the dealer to get it mounted tomorrow :blah: so he gave me a pass on that .. I put the plate back on as soon as I got home, figure it's not worth it to keep attracting attention
The only plus is that he didn't mention the tail tints .. :selavie:
nighthawkcoupe 04-13-2009, 07:10 PM That sucks, I was actually just going to take my front plate off, but maybe I shouldn't...
I've been considering tinting windows and tails on and off, but don't want to tint if I can't do the fronts, and I don't feel like getting tickets constantly.. I dunno.
A little OT, how does Friday sound for the PC? I ordered a bunch of stuff from autogeek with the code you gave me.

Yeah, I dunno .. I've had tints since July and I've been rolling without plates for two months and this is the first time I got tickets for both .. just the luck of the draw, I guess .. My tints aren't going anywhere but I'll keep the plate on for the time being.
PMed you about the PC.
Kiribati 04-13-2009, 07:56 PM Ray - Any updates with the overlays?
EDIT_ Never mind, saw that on the previous page.
GTFan712 04-13-2009, 08:04 PM Not sure if the front plate is even needed here in Georgia. The DMV only sent me one, but I didn't remove the dealership's plate for like 8 months. I'm still waiting on my check for advertising.
I do like those tail tints, kopimon. I am debating purchasing some. I'll have to get my windows tinted and then see how the car looks.

kopimon 05-11-2009, 04:28 AM Anyone else get Bluebatmobile's overlays?
bruceleroy 05-11-2009, 09:49 AM Anyone else get Bluebatmobile's overlays?
he doesnt even respond back to my anymore i think he fell out of this world :thumbsdow
SoCalStatler 05-11-2009, 05:06 PM When I had my TC, I had the option of Blue Bat Mobile overlays or just having a tint shop do it. I went to SD Tint in La Mesa and they were comparable in price and did great work. I had them do my Tails, Headlights and Eyelids and of course came with free removal for any fix it tickets + discount to put it back on lol... So anyone sick of waiting could call them up 619-469-9393, I am bringing my car back in for the headlights and tails next week.

Sorry for the double post but I saw him like 2-3 weeks ago? He was dropping off a concept roof overlay for my buddies RX-8 in RB.
golden_sahib 05-12-2009, 10:51 AM I've never seen the blacked out front lower lip. I think it's pretty sick from the pictures, but don't know how it'd look on my silver coupe
