View Full Version : Are 18x9 or 19x9 rims too big for the front?
Hitman 02-03-2009, 03:21 AM I want to pick up some rims, but am afraid that 19x9 would be too wide and extend out too far for the front of the 08 Coupe?
There are 19x8's available as well, but the lip goes from 3.25" to 2". I would prefer the 3.25" lip, but only if it's still tucked away.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
coupe_nasty 02-03-2009, 03:33 AM whats the offset?
leggysoe 02-03-2009, 03:51 AM I have a similar question.
Would 19 x 9.5 w/ +55 offset fit the rear? I know offset is little high but it's the only offset available for this specific wheel.
Hitman 02-03-2009, 05:10 AM whats the offset?
There are 2 offsets available. One is 30, and the other 40.
I know you mentioned you had 8.5's... what was the offset on those?
Would 19x9, with an offset of 30 work for the fronts?
Would an offset of 30 in the front, and 40 in the rear make sense? Sorry, this is my first set of aftermarket rims that I would be purchasing. Just want to make sure I get it right the first time.
Cheers!
Hitman 02-03-2009, 10:18 AM Anybody?
I wanted to place an order this week. Would be very much appreciated!
MSchu 02-03-2009, 10:38 AM 19 inchers might rub if lowered. depending on tire aspect ratio. 9" is okay...+40 is okay...

that will fit fine.

So 9" is okay for the fronts as well? Even with a +40? Or would you recommend the +30 instead?
MSchu 02-03-2009, 11:37 AM that -10mm when you go from +40 to +30 will make it MORE likely of a rub on fender lip as it pushed rim outward. I know 9" will fit in front at +40 DEPENDING on tire aspect ratio and suspension drop.
I am at +40 and 8.5" and it is just about perfect. I might bebale to use a 5mm spacer if I really wanted, but my car is pretty low and I am only at 17"
AznX TL 02-03-2009, 11:38 AM 19x9 +30 in the front is going to stick out alot.
19x8.5 +45 is flush for the front so any wider with a lower offset will stick out more.

Yes.

Based on this... I am thinking the 19x8, with a +40 offset would be the better bet? That's the other option I have. There is no 8.5.
Would 19x9, +40 offset be flush at the front as well? Provided I get the right aspect ratio on the tire? I would likely be using the H&R springs... or the Eibach Sportlines...
Hitman 02-03-2009, 03:12 PM 19x9 +30 in the front is going to stick out alot.
19x8.5 +45 is flush for the front so any wider with a lower offset will stick out more.
In your opinion, do you think the 19x9, +40 offset would be pretty flush at the front, or would that stick out a lot too?
+30 is out of the question based on what you said.
Thanks for the info.
AznX TL 02-03-2009, 03:27 PM when going wider like 19x8.5 +45 to 19x9 you need to go higher offset for similiar results flush wise to you previous width. for each usually the offset= MM and width is inches, since theres 25MM to an inch you need to find out how many inches has been added to it.
so since it went from 8.5 +45 for being flush to 9.0 +xx its half an inch wider so you need to make the offset 1/2 inch wider or about 12.5MM so you would need 19x9 +57 for it to be flush.

Since the rims I am looking at don't offer anything greater than an offset of +40, I would have to go with something like 8 +30 to achieve the best results?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if 8.5 +45 is flush, and there's 25MM to an inch, I would have to take off half an inch (12.5MM), resulting in 8 +32.5 (+30 is offered).
Thanks for the info... this is great! For the rears, would I essentially be choosing a different offset? What specs would be flush for the rears? Would you happen to know?
AznX TL 02-03-2009, 06:11 PM i believe for the rear to be flush its 19x9.5 +45 but it could be 19x9, i cant remember atm.

Is there anywhere I could confirm this?
Right now, I am thinking I will be going with staggered, to get a flush fit.
Fronts - 19x8 +30
Rear - 19x9 +40 (if flush is 19x9 +45), or 19x9 +30 (if the flush is 19x9.5 +45)
Does this make sense?
