View Full Version : finally got it installed
adrammelech 02-04-2009, 05:13 AM hi all how is everybody doing !! i finally got my custom air intake filter installed
ive made my own maf senser holder lol and the intake was from HKS i have to say guys the sound is WAOW better respones on the throtle and higher reving and no engine check sign
and o ya i forgot u can feel it have much more punsh to it
YRMed 02-04-2009, 06:36 AM That looks like a stock rubber pipe from a 4 cyl 2.4L (Gen 7, maybe 8 as well) Accord with a cone filter. Is that what it is???
Looks like you used some of the stock retaining bolts for the Air Box to make sure the rubber pipe does not hang from the weight of the new filter.
Tell me if I'm wrong.
Also, i could be wrong, but your engine does not rev higher because of the intake. It still has electronic limiter.
lldsandsll 02-04-2009, 06:50 AM he just opened up the box, but left the bottom casing for support. he mounted a filter on the stock rubber hose. that's it.

You are right. The Redline stays the same unless you have some sort of piggy-back ecu that gives you the flexability to remove the rev-limiter.
YRMed 02-04-2009, 08:06 AM So, what is the guess-timate of the HP increase of this VS stock?
elp_jc 02-04-2009, 08:11 AM The MAF next to an oil-soaked cotton-gauze filter is a no-no.
And 'more push'? You can't feel a couple of HP at best, and that'd happen at the very top of the rev range; get real folks. And I said 'at best' because most stock air filters provide all the air your engine needs, so you're only getting more dirt in your engine and hearing more noise (hence the 'extra push'). Good day gang.

+1
adrammelech 02-04-2009, 08:40 AM yes what ive done
i kept everything the same i kept the stock rubber pipe and made my self the the older for the maf senser i got a HKS aircon
what i ment by reving higher i ment by that you feel the engine is going a bit faster my car never used to do this
and about the punsh yes u can feel there is a bit incress in the engine
when i went to Hks they promised me with the gain of 2 bhp
if i got my self metal pipe it will be better so im waiting for a custom made one
next_milenium 02-04-2009, 08:43 AM +2 on what elp_jc said. Perhaps OP feels more power due to louder engine noise?
adrammelech 02-04-2009, 08:46 AM will the power u cannt say its like WAOW its really powerfull imean its just better than the stock
but hey you have a good growl and sound of a low whine its sounds great
drive honda 02-04-2009, 08:55 AM do you mind taking better pics and vid? looks good tho. 1vt3c did same thing i just saw his intake alittle shorter yours looks long lol
1-VT3C 02-04-2009, 08:56 AM yea mines not that long
YRMed 02-04-2009, 08:58 AM If I were you,
I would get an actual CAI, not a RAM system. My experience with RAM wasn't spectacular.
Also, have you thought about using a regular paper filter (stock) and swiss cheesing (Drilling many 1/2" to 3/4" holes) the bottom portion of your air box?
I would think doing that will kinda/sorta give you sound you are after. The one thing I liked about the Injen RAM I had on my Gen VII was the sound when you max out the gears, but when you just coast, the noise was obnoxious.
I also saw/heard youtube video's of Gen 8 V6's with CAI and it sounded awful.

First of all i dont think there is a cai out for a i4. In person im sure it sounds great. I dont think anyone wants to drill holes to the airbox.
YRMed 02-04-2009, 11:49 AM According to Majestic Honda Online:
The Air Box costs approximately 30 Dollars.
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=ACCORD&catcgry2=2008&catcgry3=4DR+EX&catcgry4=KA5AT&catcgry5=AIR+CLEANER+(L4)
With that said, I think its definitely better to Swiss cheese it, and see how that goes, and then replace it with a new one if it goes bad. I suspect that by drilling holes and adding a panel filter such as K&N you'll allow it to produce more noise and possibly collect more air. I really feel like drilling holes and bolting on a RAM system are equivalent. I doubt that the RAM system could do significantly better (Read: 20% Better. As in drilling holes in air box yields maybe 2 HP, and RAM System yields 3HP)
adrammelech 02-05-2009, 05:34 AM will for me this con wasnt cause i want speed or power or what ever this thing never gets me any of those all what i wanted is the deep noise and the low whine its good
not really noisy the thing the video that ive uploaded it isnt really good but ya listen to it

YRMed 02-05-2009, 06:08 AM Umm...Whats that orange light that comes on? Is that the CEL?
v-6 nolo 02-05-2009, 06:36 AM EDIT: CEL, seat belt light, one hand driving over 120 K/h = Fail.
adrammelech 02-05-2009, 12:51 PM the orange light is for driving over 120 k/h
