I don't think this is a repost. Good find. I like the numbers because one of our members recently posted his dyno results and it was like 200whp for v6 auto. This other car got it up to 214hp/212tq on 87 octane gas. I'm ok with that.

Not a repost, but I've seen very similar numbers before for the Auto. Wish there were a lot more results for V6 6MT aside from the ones available on TOV, cause i read those more than twice.

To me the engine being designed for 87 octane just means it won't do any harm to the engine using regular gas. I think premium should definitely increase 5-10 HP.

Glad it is new...and I agree, would love to see some more 6-6 numbers, but for me the engine is fine, I will be leaving it alone, still nice to know though.

I though that higher octane means a faster explosion timing. So the engine must be tune to that.

I don't think its faster timing. I think higher octane fuels allow for the reaction inside the cylinder to be more controlled because higher octane is more stable under pressure/compression. However, it is not a very easy process to explain. I believe that you want the explosion to occur when the piston is right at the top of the cylinder, just a tick towards going down, and then comes the explosion to push it down with force. If you are running sub-par gas, timing will slow down to allow the piston to start moving down after the compression stroke in order to avoid knocking, or exploding prematurely while the piston is still doing the compression stroke. So, in essence, timing will not become faster if you are running on good gas, it will be "normal". At least that is how i understand it.

He should have kept going, and by the 30th run he'd have clocked like 400 HP :lmao:.
And higher octane gas doesn't do anything for a car designed to run on regular. And even if it did, it's 2 HP max indeed. Save your money :yes:.

Higher octane fuel is actually backwards from what most folks think. It is harder to burn a higher octane fuel and like the others said, if your motor isn't built for it, it's not going to make that much difference. If it did make that much difference, you could put 114 in a stock 4 banger and get gains of 100hp. Not gonna happen. Put that on a big block built out the arse, and yeah it's gonna drive the hp #'s up quite a bit compared to pump gas. On our little cars, it's not gonna make enough difference to tell.
