View Full Version : Guy raggin on military jbuffethed 06-06-2005, 08:59 AM This was on Fox News. 7mb. Very funny dumba$$ ( http://s15.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0U5AV3YH9G7470WLY8OQTSRSA3) stiller fan 06-06-2005, 09:42 AM funny that hannity and colmes did what they did.... guy kept talking about something other than the question, and loved how they booted him off the show..... stiller fan 06-09-2005, 04:42 AM although that it was funny that that guy got booted off the way he did, it's sad that the military defends people like that...... my1staccord 06-09-2005, 08:06 AM although that it was funny that that guy got booted off the way he did, it's sad that the military defends people like that...... I think it is great that the military defends ones ability to say stupid things. What I dont understand is that if he feels that our soldiers get paid way too much, then why doesnt he join, and he himself could be "way over paid". Hey the benefits are pretty good, my father was in the Marine corps for 24 years. His pay was ok, it wasnt great. he has an ok retirement set up but that is partially because he gets disability pay (he broke his back while parachuting at night). We got to see and live in places that the average person doesnt. That being said when we lived in Japan I got to see my father for around 8 months of the 2 years we were there. The rest of the time he was on a ship. There are huge sacrifices that military personnel and their families give even when we are not caught up in a war. So yes I have a lot of respect for the people that defend this country and its principles. I personally feel that they are way underpaid, and that they deserve every single benefit that they currently get and more. As far as this shmuck that went on TV to criticize the men and women in uniform, what can be said? He is ignorant, and in many countries would have been shot for his views (or maybe driven over with a tank). I only wish that he knew how the cost of his freedom is measured. Matman 06-09-2005, 08:59 AM Most people seem to forget that its those people who are "way overpaid" that are dying daily so that moron can spout his opinion on whatever he feels like. My dad has been in the army for 30 years and I can tell you he has earned every cent he's has ever been paid. Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion, but man, if you arn't going to root for the home team, why not leave the ballpark? princess 06-09-2005, 11:17 AM Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion, but man, if you arn't going to root for the home team, why not leave the ballpark? Over paid? I'm not sure I get that..... what's the price for a life now days?? Any of our military can be called into action when/if the need arises. jbuffethed 06-09-2005, 07:58 PM I dont feel I am getting overpaid at all. And with the recruiting thing, I was not tricked to signing anything. I actually volunteered and I am glad I did. I've had nothing but good things happen since I joined the military. That guy in the video was actually kicked out of the Army cause he couldnt medically finish boot camp. princess 06-10-2005, 08:02 AM When we were in the AF, we qualified for food stamps! Never applied. Some did though. Now I know people that are staying in for the housing..... they can't afford to live here anymore! There's probably a different reason for each person for enlisting.... point is it's all voluntary. If someone doesn't check out whether or not what a recruiter tells them is true or not, I'm not sure I want them in! Kinda a catch 22! warning..... a NON politically correct statement coming........ :paranoid: A thought that has gone through my little mind when I see people protesting war in general.... not a particular one...... Wars are nasty, no doubt. They are sometimes a neccessary, nasty thing we go through to reach a better end.... whether it's civil or political. Sometimes just needed, though unpleasant..... so here's the thought: I wonder if some of these people never clean their toilet...... another nasty, but neccessary job!! :dunno: :lmao: stiller fan 06-10-2005, 08:43 AM :lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  :lmao:  snakehair 06-13-2005, 03:32 PM As an old timer who was in from '63 to '74 with a son who did his time also, I can attest there is no such thing as an "overpaid" serviceman. The responsibility they put on people who average way under 30 years old is much more than the average "civilan" will ever have to endure. The old phrase "old men send young men to war" is still valid. I don't regret the time I did. It cost me a lot to "start" a job at age 29 with 3 kids in tow, but nobody forced me to join up. I went in as a 17 year old kiddy cruiser before I was even eligible for the draft. |
