so i guess this should go into audio...but i was just letting yall know that i just got speakers installed...not the head unit...i felt the new headunit would be unneccessary.....and plus i think it looks to plain with the dash kit....it already has mp3 playback and ipod aux jack so wut more do i need...nothing...so i got rockford speakers...and they sound great!! so anyone looking to upgrade speakers and keep the stock dash unit DO IT!!! before it was so muddy now i can hear every single instrument haha!:banana:

did you change the amp and sub as well ? im thinking of doing the same, keeping headunit and changing everythign else, not sure if stock headunit offers decent sound ....

Was it a pro install? Is it difficult to take off the C Pillar trim? I have EX-L and i has air-bags there, and i wont want it to accidentally blow up.

what kind of speakers did you get? how much? ive been wanting to do the same thing. the oem speakers are just so terrible. and the oem tweeters sound really soft to me.

well i have base lx model so i had no amp n subs, however i got rockford fosgate pro install...they were originally about 140 per pair...i talked them down to 100:banana:

Edit::...20 year old negotiater! haha...he told me 140 a pair and i said ..u got nething cheaper, he said "jensens" i said how much..he said 55 a pair...i said "oh i like those...i cant really tell a difference in sound either..tho i could....neway he said ok how bout 120 on the rockfords...i said idk...bring it down to 100...he didnt say nething for about a minute lol he didnt konw what to say...then i said leme hear the jensen in one door and rockford in the other...so he did....i said man those jensens sound good...he said ok, ill give the rockfords for 100! i said ok!!:yes:

stock head unit is an alpine but there re things to consider depending on what you plan to do and what your expectations are from the system....

So the stock "Premium" unit in the EX is Pioneer, but the non-premium unit in the LX is Alpine?

Since you have the non prem, I assume you are running the 160-watt stereo? Did you use an aftermarket amp or are you just running them off the oem amps?
