What do most of you go with and does anyone know of a class II hitch made for a 99 4dr V6? I'm just under the 2000 lb class I with the trailer and load.

Do I need to add anything else to the car? I will very rarely use it but I want to have it if I need it.

Thanks
Gregg

You mean just "over" the 2,000 lb Class I and hence having to go to Class II'?

Doesn't look like much is out there for Class II for the Accords........

I'm under but I always try to go bigger if available. I'm sure Class I would be fine.

You will need a wiring harness to operate the lights on the trailer.

Years ago I had a cavalier and put a drawtight hidden hitch on it for my jet ski. It was nice and mostly concealed when not used. Not sure if they still make it or if you can get for the Accord.

I did see Draw-tite does have two different Class 1s and they also make them for U-haul (same part # with a U-haul sticker). I guess any of the big names will work fine. I just wondered what most of you used.

Any need to upgrade the flasher Relay? I'm taking a trip to the NC hills for a week and wanted to bring the car and bike. Yes I know I said if you ever saw my scooter on a trailer call the police.

Thanks again.

Dont do it!
The trany die too easy without abuse, pulling a trailer is not reasionable.
Get a truck...

Bing, bing, bing!! We have a winner.

I agree. The transmission in any Gen 6 is just a too delicate piece to be pulling a trailer. Near 2000 lb is also justification for trailer brakes.

I suspect if you look, you could get a nice, FULL SIZED truck or SUV, for cheap (or at least, less that what a trailer hitch and a new transmition replacement, will cost ($3,000 to 5,000)...
If you use a Accord to pull a 2000 Lbs trailer, long term predicted chances of failure, 100%...

Whatever TRUCK you chose, make sure, that specific model, is rated for much more that what your pulling...

The one thing, Ford dose well, is make trucks...

What can be done to help the tranny in a stock non-pulling car? How can I make what I have last if you say normal driving will kill the tranny?

As for a truck.... see the avatar. Not sure how you missed that.

Change the fluid every 30k if you drive mostly highway, anything else every 15k.

Install a magnefine filter in the cooler line coming out of the trans.

Put a nice sized stacked plate style cooler in the system ahead of the a/c condenser.

Thanks.

I was wondering what could be done to raise the pressure or increase the flow to help out from the inside. That sort of thing. I'm sure the Honda tranny has less room to change things, I just know what all I did to the old Chevy 700R4 and my Dodge 48re in the race truck to beef them up.
