Has anyone powder coated their wheels?? I'm thinkin of doing it to my stock rims, just wondering if it's a good idea. Durability? Price? Quality? Help please. I live in Chicago so there's snow, salt, and heat to deal with. Thinkin of doing it in the Spring.

To do this right, you will have to strip off the original paint as the high temperature baking process required to cure the powder coating will probably damage the original paint, plus the electrostatic process to apply the epoxy powder to the base surface may not work with existing paint finish either.

Ambient heat won't affect the coating on your stock wheel, but salt will, you'd be better off getting a set of steel wheels with winter tires if you have the space to store the second set of wheels/tires.
