I'm interested in knowing if you needed a steering wheel puller to get it off. 8th Gen only please.

You do and and you dont...i have taken mine off to put on a leather wheel and only had to do it once because after that i could freely let the bolt loose and it would come off without the puller. you will need it the first time and after that if you want to mess with it you dont need it

I agree. Just leave the bolt on. Unbolt it most of the way. Pull hard at the top and then the sides a few times and it will come off.
