Hi all,

I bought a new 2004 (yes, a 2004!) LX V6 coupe a couple months ago. I got a really good deal... $18.8K +TTL and $2K to $3K more on my trade-in than book. I previously had a 2002 Civic Si, but I had serious troubles with vandals and thieves here in NJ, so I thought it would be a good idea to get a car with a lower profile. I know the Accord is still a bit of a target, but my insurance did go down $100 a year with the new car, something I've never experienced.

About the car... So far so good. It's got a few tiny creaks and rattles, but nothing major, so hopefully I can those fixed on my first service visit. One thing I'm not sure about is the vibration I feel in the steering wheel and accelerator, even on table-top smooth roads. Could be the balancing, but I don't expect that on a new car (though the dealer I bought from isn't so great in the service department).

Anyway, it's a joy to drive. This is my first experience owning a car above the compact class, so I was a little concerned about its being sporty enugh. But it handles nearly as well as the Si, while being much smoother and easier to drive in urban areas. The most amazing thing so far: 33 mpg on the highway. I didn't believe my math at first, but I did the calculation from top-off to top-off. And I'm easily cruising over 500 miles at 70-78 mph on a tank before the light comes on.

I've got about 3400 miles on it, after a road trip to Memphis, and so far I'm one pleased Accord owner. :)

jmiller - Welcome to another Jerseyan!

You made an excellent choice and an even better deal. Very impressive!

What dealer did you buy from?

What color?

What accessories do you plan to add? (splash guards, trunk mat and all season mats are my recommendation as a start)

Give us some more specific info on the vibrations and rattles, and we will point you in the right direction. Many of us have well over 2 years invested in our 7th gen Accords, and we know the problems and fixes quite well.

Best wishes with the new ride!

Welcome jmiller!!

I wonder if you're close to me? Whereabouts in NJ? I'm based out of Livingston these days...

Incidentally I bought my car in NJ as well, from Planet Honda.

Welcome!!

If it were an 4, then I'd say the vibration could be 04-024 (I think that's the one)..... but being a 6??? :dunno: Give us more info & maybe we can help you figure it out!

Hi all,

It's a silver coupe... I got it at Metro Honda in Jersey City, where I live. I bought a Civic LX a few years back at what was then Planet Honda on Rt. 3. (I think that dealer has since changed its name to avoid confusion with the one on 22.)

I haven't made any plans yet for accessories. If I spend any money on the car, the first thing I'll do is buy some wheels to replace the plastic wheel covers.

The noises are fairly minor: The window seems a little loose in the driver side, so it moves a little over bumps. Plus, the seat squeaks like it has an air mattress. I guess that's just the curtain airbag.

As for the vibrations, it's hard to pinpoint exactly where they're coming from. But there's a steady vibration in the accelerator pedal and steering wheel and highway speeds. It could just be normal, but it seems awfully "busy" to me. I plan on having the wheels rotated and balanced soon to see if that fixes it. I'll keep y'all posted on that.

We have the same car (except color). It was delivered with splash guards, which are essential, and I added the trunk tray. In addition, the dealer offered a set of 5-spoke coupe wheels with Potenzas for $700 which I took over a set of the painted 7-spoke wheels with Michelins. Mine also has some slight wheel vibration, but it's not that noticeable and I'm fairly picky. No loose window or squeaky seat here, so I hope you can get these resolved with minimum hassle. Since your dealer is slack, don't hestitate to call the regional office if needed.

Don't know if you've considered window tint, but the reports of scratching problems from the weatherstrip and regulator inside the door have me spooked until I come across a goof-proof, guaranteed solution.

Congrats on negotiating a sweet deal. It does pay to buy after the new models start arriving!
