Currently I have a small system installed in my 7th gen accord (sony amp w/ 2 10" kicker C10's). I want a larger subwoofer system along with another amp since I want to install aftermarket speakers but I think my tweeters may be a little blown since on certain songs (unless the CD quality was off) they seem to crackle. My concern in that since I want to do over my entire sound system setup, does the front dash have to be removed since the tweeters are located at the front corners near the windshield? Also, would installing another pair of tweeters possibly on the A-pillar or the B-pillar cause the highs to be too much because Im looking into purchasing 2 12' Kicker L7 which would totally blow away my current subwoofers and since I want more bass from my interior speakers I know I would need the highs to balance out the sound. Any information about the stock tweeter setup and how to access them along with adding another pair of tweeters to the setup?

The grill on the tweeters pry off. The tweeter is a cartrage type of affair. Look at the asscery sites and there will be install instructions for the OEM tweeters. I looked into installing them for the wife when we where looking at Accord LX's and CR-V LX's. And why Honda puts the tweets up in that corner? The worst place they could have put them! Will be upgradeing the system in the wifes new Accord EX to a level that I can stand when Im driving it. The stock system in my Ranger sounds way better than the Honda stock system with only 4 speakers.
O well enjoy your system upgrade.

Am I mis-reading...isn't the pillar...the airbag?

The 2003 Accord LX's didnt come equipped with side airbags. My airbags are only located in the steering wheel and above the glove compartment on the passenger side. They didnt make standard side airbags in the Accord until the 2005 model i believe.

I can't find any info on the OEM tweeter install instructions.
Any idea what aftermarket tweeters will fit?
If I get a component system, will I have to use the crossovers that came with the speakers, or can I just hook everything up to the existing wire?

My guess is you will have to use the crossover that came with the comp. speaker. Even if they OEM tweets have a crossover, you will want to use the crossover that came with the speakers. It will be much better than the OEM crossover and will be adjustable so that you can get the best sound for your application.

While we're on the topic of the stereo, what headunits would anyone recommend for the 7th gen accord? After reading on other posts that having 2 amps the headunit wouldnt have enough power to give to 2 amps and since any stock headunit isnt very powerful what headunits would not make the interior of the accord look cheap. I would like to keep the stock heaunit since it gives the dash a more appealing look but I know it doesnt have a lot of power since I want to get aftermarket speakers and a larger amp and subwoofer setup. ALso since the climate controls seem to be attached to the same piece as the stereo controls what would come of them if I add an aftermarket headunit?

Depending on how much money you want to spend. You may want to look at JL Audio's product that was released this month. It is called clean sweep. I will hook up directly to your OEM HU and then flatten out the freqency response and give you some nice high quality outputs that you can hook up amps. That way you keep your factory look and all the fuctionality. I believe it is supposed to retail around $350. Not cheap, but once you add in the cost of potentially losing your HVAC controls and the steering wheel controls depending on what model you have, not a bad deal.

Ah, I see. Didn't know that. I looked at my 05 and immediatly thought...that would hurt.
