I recently bought a 2009 Honda Accord Lx model and the manual says that all doors will be automatically lock when the doors are not open for 30 seconds. If I unlock using the remote key and didn't open the doors for 30 seconds, doors are locked. But if I unlock using remote, open the door and lock the door without entering into the car, my car didn't get lock after 30 seconds. Do we need to program? I didn't see any procedure in the manual. Does this require security system in the car? Please let me know.

The doors lock 30 seconds after the car is put in gear. The doors do not lock automatically if you turn the engine and let it idle to warm up. Or at least mine doesn't...

That's how the system works. If you unlock the doors and not opening the doors, the system will relock in 30 seconds to keep the vehicle safe. If you unlock the car and opened the door, the system will not relock because it doesn't know if you have entered inside the car or not. It makes perfect sense.
But if I unlock using remote, open the door and lock the door without entering into the car, my car didn't get lock after 30 seconds.
If you lock the car, it will not lock again. The system is smart enough to know that its locked.
Also, the auto lock will lock the doors after the car reaches 9mph, not a set time limit.

Thanks a lot for your replies. May be I didn't put my question properly.
After switching off the engine, I came out of the car, close the door and no one is inside the car. In this case, door should get lock in 30 seconds. But it doesn't happen. Do I need to program anything?

I thought the MT will lock doors when you shift into second?

Again, you opened the door, it will NOT lock. However, if you turn off the engine, unlock the door, but donot open it, it WILL lock. Hope this helps.
