So, I've been driving my Accord for about 2 years now.
It is a 2000 LX Sedan started off with 45k mileage, and now has 75k
The problem is that on occasion, there are times when my engine gives out, and lowers its RPM to the last line next to 0. I feel that it shouldn't be doing that because my car shudders and feels like it's about to turn off.
I was told it was because of the sparkplug, but I've gotten those fixed and yet the problem persists.
Please, if anyone can help me out!!!!

My dad's 99 Accord sedan does the same thing! SCARY AS HELL driving it sometimes -- especially when you need that extra power to get out from oncoming traffic when making left turns across an intersection!
I don't know much about cars, but I'll check on the spark plugs! I honestly thought it had something to do with the transmission..

i looked in my haynes manual in the troubleshooting section. some possible causes under "engine lacks power" include: incorrect ignition timing, excessive play in the distributor shaft, warn rotor distributor cap or wires, faulty or incorrectly gaped spark plugs (said you had them replaced), fuel injection system malfunction, faulty coil, brakes binding, automatic transaxle fluid level incorrect, clutch slipping, fuel filter clogged and/or impurities in the fuel system, emissions control system not functioning properly, low or uneven cylinder compression pressures, or an obstructed exhaust system
ive never experienced this before so i have no real knowledge to offer. some of these causes could re ruled out im sure but its just all the possibilities listed in the manual. i would call/go to your dealership and describe the problem and the steps you have taken and see if they could offer any ideas

Did you change the Cap and rotor. I would also suggest repalcing the spark plug wires, but get the cheap kind tho. Accel is good....

I just recently had the same issue in my 2002 4cly accord. I was getting the 67 code that said the Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. What i did was I ran Seafoam through the vacum line and in the gas tank but didnt do much infact it kinda made it worse for a little bit. I also changed the spark plugs and checked my cap and rotor and they both were fine. My car has 93,000 miles. I then took it upon myself to remove my catalytic converter and hallow it out to allow the air to flow freely...I put it back on the car and the car runs like a champ now, but I get a throtty sound from the exhaust. I wouldnt recommend messing with the catalytic converter if you live in a state that requires emisison testing and you may not pass it after wards.. I still get the Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (67) code but the car runs alot better letting me take it into high RPMs without losing power. Hope that helps.
