This is going to sound like raining on your parade........

I just don't understand, especially for a black car like yours, why would people intentionally defeat a safety feature from the manufacturer?

This amber reflective material is there such that the at night, the headlight of another vehicle shinning on it gives a tell-tale bright spot much further away to the driver of that vehicle, who may otherwise not seen your (black) car until much too close.

ohhh k.

well, umm, the covering of the reflector is paint and i asked for transparent paint, not flat. therefore, if it is night time, you can still shine a light into it and get a reflection. also, the turn signal (aka parking light) is still visible. so, therefore, i am not going to be hit for that reason. if i get hit it will be because some stupid broad backs up into me. (oh wait, that already happened) ha.

Hopefully, but the reflection will be substantially reduced.

Not if the other vehicle is travelling perpendicular to your car........

well, in any case, i like it a lot more and thats what matters, i dont expect to be t-boned anytime, ever...my HID's show where my car is. im getting new headlights anyway, so im not worried about it.

I should clarify that the worst case situation is at night when you are parked (so lights are off), and an inattentive driver barrows along at 90 deg. angle towards your car.........

THAT'S what was bugging me, I'm not that initmately familiar with the 06-07 model and had initially totally missed that the tail light also had portions tinted.

i park in a drive way, and i always park under a light or near a light when i go out, so im not worried, like i said.

in regards to the too small for the car...it looks amazing!

i have had numerous people ask me what model it is and mention when they saw it from a distance, they thought it was a MB or BMW. so i love them, they look sexy and so does my car.

haha, anyway, anyone have anything to compare to these?

damn! that looks hot! I've never seen this done before...very creative! I was thinkin about doin the same thing to my rear lights but having the reverse lights cut out: all black then the white reverse lights standing out.

but yea, put up some pics when the lights are on at night. also, take a picture of the front of the car while standing back a bit.

Thanks, man...neither have I, thats why i love them! haha

and your idea sounds pretty good actually. i have a lot of fun with photoshop and thats how i decided on my tint...you should experiment with it and see how yours would look...that would probably look good though.

ya, ill put the night pics up tomorrow, probably, if i have time. im changing the front of my car soon (fog lights on tuesday with HID's in them) and then projectors in April, but ill take them w/o fogs i suppose just to show them.

thanks for the feedback!!:D

i would like to hear everyone's, so dont be shy!

i'm pretty good at photoshop, but i'm kinda new to modding cars in photoshop... lol i've tried several times to do this so I can see what it'd look like on my car, but i just haven't been able to do it and make it look good.

here's a picture of a civic coupe -- this is basically what I want to do with my car..

ya, i see what you mean.

just remember if you tint the tail light itself, you run the risk of that annoying ticket.

it would look good, make sure it's painted though, not that gross film shit when you do tint it

annoying ticket? what ticket? is it illegal to tint rear lights? i've seen tons of cars that have it -- plus I tinted my younger brother's civic coupe myself about 8 months ago. he's 16 and hasn't received a ticket for it - well, not YET i guess.. :dunno:

ya, man.

a cop can pull you over if they cant see your actual taillights through the tint, my friend got pulled over and had to fix it and show them that it was fixed, then redo it. haha. it is lame. maybe its only a california thing? but im pretty sure its everywhere. isnt expensive, but just annoying...plus they could use that excuse if they think there is something bigger going on with you in your car.

I know the TSX switchblade only works for 8th gen coupes, but on another thread I think someone mentioned a TL switchblade key would work for an 06 coupe -- maybe it'll work on urs too.. :dunno:
