View Full Version : Water sloshing sounds, when it rains...
Bruce Hawkins 03-03-2009, 09:00 PM So, it finally raining, hear in Cali...
And I'm noticing a sound of sloshing water, and I can't pinpoint it (only when it rains).
I have checked the floors, doors, fount vent area (inside the engine compartment, next to the windshield), trunk, and the sun roof. No major wetness found, although slight wetness inside drain of the sunroof. If it been raining for a while, I sometimes, smell a "wet dog smell," also...
And, at the same time, most of the time, I'll get a Passengers side air bag (SRS) warning light. If it just went on, if I play with the passengers seat belt (pull on it), the light goes off. If its raining, during the daytime, the light is less likely to be on???
My windows don't steam up much, but the back window, dose sometimes...
Any one seen this one before???
cajun 03-04-2009, 06:15 AM There was a recall for the condition you describe with the passenger side air bag. Call your dealer - it may be covered.
When it rains I hear something I wouldn't describe as "sloshing." It sounds more like running water going down the passenger C-pillar. I don't know if that is from a sunroof drain, or if I'm just hearing the water run down the exterior. Maybe you have a clogged sunroof drain tube? Try pouring water into the two front drain holes and see if it comes out under the car.

Bruce Hawkins 03-04-2009, 01:15 PM The sound is barely audible. But I was thinking water in the B-pillar, from the sunroof, too. I'll have to check this...
Set belt/ Airbag Recall (and TMI):
Currently My HAM radio's trunk unit, and its associated wiring is under the passengers seat. And the control head is mounted below the stereo, in the cubby hole. Its not done as perfectly, as I'd prefer (time, and originally I could not find the grommet, that's under the engine fuse box, that leads through the firewall). To do it 100% correctly, it will require I run dedicated 8 AWG (Red and Black (and fused) to the trunk thought the firewall, and the radio control head wiring back from the trunk. Currently, I have a fuse tap, in the passengers factory fuse box. All the extraneous wires are out of sight, but I've herd stories about Honda Mechanics, and non-Honda changes - A can of worms, I dont wanna deal with...
Thanks all for the reply's...
mhadden 03-05-2009, 06:23 AM Make sure the drainage lines from the sunroof are free of debris (dirt, mostly, ans sometimes leaves). A friend of mine had this problem with her Civic (all it was was dirt in the sunroof gutter).

I'll check the drain - thanks...
Calamity Coyote 03-05-2009, 01:41 PM Just a thought, have you checked the drain hose for the A/C unit? I had the "Sloshing" sound before and found that the drain hose on the passenger side was pushed down a little too far, causing it to stop up. The water was in the catch pan for the A/C unit splashing back n forth. The drain hose is on the passenger side under the carpet by the firewall and center transmission hump. Small 1" black hose. Move it up and down a little and see if you get water draining out from under the car.
Bruce Hawkins 03-05-2009, 06:40 PM I'll look at this too - thanks...
