Hey guys just wondering if i can get some feedback from 8G coupe owners who have sub's in their trunk. Im looking to get a setup in my truck but not sure of the space. If you guys can tell me your setup so i can get an idea of what fits and what wouldnt fit would be great!

I've got a 10" type R that I got brand new for $107 and am pretty surprised with its output. I've got it sealed at only .65cuft (which is the optimum sealed enclosed volume according to alpine).

Not to thread jack, but don't want to just keep starting posts. While we are talking about Alpine, what do you guys think of them? I had a Type-S for a little while a few years back that I liked...

I'm "on the verge" of focusing some time on my system with (suggestions on any of this is appreciated)
- AudioControl LC6/7 (7 might be not needed) or an Alpine IVA-W505 (not sure if I want to go the route of the whole double dine or not)
- 4 6.5in Component Speakers - highly considering Alpine Type-R's
- Some sort of amp to power them (4 channel right?) - possibly JBL (I had this with my 10in Type S)?
- and when I get moving I'm planning on molding one or two fiberglass boxes in the trunk with either 1 or 2 10's or 12's (considering Alpine Type-R's for this, but open to suggestions)

i think you can fit most 10" subs in a sealed or ported box that will still allow you ample trunk space and access to the spare tire.

I like my alpine setup a lot (check sig). Its still being 'broken in' so I havn't really slammed it yet, but I turned it up a couple of times and I think that single 10" is going to end up being just as loud and maybe a little louder than my 2 12" Audiobahns I used to have. The great thing about the sub is that it has very small sealed volume and it is much clearer and isnt boomy at all unless thats what the music calls for, it actually seems quite accurate and blends well. The response from the lower frequencies to the higher ones with it in its sealed enclosure is also more consistent than with the ported enclosure too... just something to think about (less roll-off, less variation in dB throughout its frequency response).

Yeah, but going back to the original question of space... I think we have a pretty impressively big trunk with our accords.. With space as some type of concern I think you can pretty easily fit at least 1-2 10's or 12's in there without too much disruption. You can go the route and have a small or custom box with a sub or two (I'm also thinking of JBlausts that was tucked with 2 back there) or go more of a route like JamieJam's that have one mounted on each side up towards the front of the trunk (but still should allow access to spare unless you tuck amps down there)

I was truly beginning to gain respect for you and some of your knowledge till you said the magic word " AUDIOBAHN" LOL! looks and beauty with Total substandard performance But, a great marketing dept that sponsored out so many people, that they had noone left to sell to... so Out of business they went....

If you want to take it to the next level try the lc6, get the h650 imprint speakers sub and amp between the lc6 and imprint youll spend less thean the 505. get the outer navi Bezel from honda and add an 8 inch screen and a dvd player....

I have my Power supply there and one of my processors... but the rack is hinged so when it lifts, theres the spare... Its all a matter of planning and creativity! and sometimes, BUDGET....

That's pretty cool... I didn't know you were able to keep your spare in there!

Yah! Actually that was a primary focus for safety ( Iasca Competition rules) and with road trips to shos, always need to be prepared... :) so I keep a small contingency of tools with at all times and I can have the tiere out within about 5 minutes...

Off track a tad.. but I was poking around ebay and made a bid on some fiberglass and didn't think anything of it (knew I'd need some more if I was going to try to start molding the subs when I had a free day). I looked after and I won a cheap auction (paid 2.50 for the cloth - didn't realize shipping would be 25 bucks)... but then I realized I bought 25 POUNDS of cloth... so I'll definitely be playing with this shortly! That's gotta be a LOT!

I knew I'd have some explaining to do! Lol No, I totally agree with you. I only got them because a guy I new gave them to me about 8 years ago already in a sealed box for VERY cheap, which I was still in high school at that time and cheap was good :) I had decided to just wait until I got a nice car before I'd upgrade the stereo and that day has finally come. Even with the upgrade I still didnt want to spend a crazy amount of money and get something over the top... just good SQ. Hopefully my broke/teen years purchase won't discount what I actually do know about audio and electronics :D
