View Full Version : Is there such a thing as '03 double din?
pozerpholife 03-04-2009, 08:12 PM I'm thinking of replacing my regular aftermarket single din head unit and garmin with the following pioneerhttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001BJ6JQS/interactiveda8758-20 The guy at the shop I went to today said due to the curvature of the 03-07 "cubby hole" where I have my single din kit now that Metra doesn't make a double din kit. I've tried looking online and can't seem to find anything either. He suggested modifying the one I have now with fiberglass and that it would cost 100 for him to do it. Please tell me there is some other way!!!! haha Thanks in advance for any help.

Honda247 03-04-2009, 09:02 PM I think it goes where the cubby is. Under the stock stereo.

chubby ???? is that like the glory hole????:lmao:
pozerpholife 03-04-2009, 10:34 PM yeah, that's where mine goes currently but paying almost as much as a standard single din head unit is for a piece of plastic is totally ridiculous
03LXV6 03-05-2009, 04:24 AM That piece doesn't cost as much from the dealer. It should be around $70. Since the OP already have a single single, he would have to put back the factory radio and use the double din in the cubby area or it will be really busy dash.
pozerpholife 03-05-2009, 08:39 AM where can I get it for $70 I can't even seem to find a single one other than that, metra doesn't have one, schosche doesn't seem to either

I called my guy at scosche.. they dont have it for the 7th... nor the tsx.. its gonna be a custom job 100%
pozerpholife 03-05-2009, 09:04 AM yeah I've heard of fiberglassing from up to 100 to 400 so far....omg the projects I get myself into

Even better $46. Choose audio attachment (-05) from the list.
If connecting a radio like this would you lose function from your fact radio? Is there any way to add a radio double din type and keep both working?
03LXV6 03-05-2009, 01:28 PM Yes Berg. I have mine hook up so both works. You have to get an Aux adapter with RCA inputs. You use the pre outs on the after market radio to get audio into the stock headunit. I even have my rear speakers wired to the Double Din unit so I can play it in the back and have the stock headunit playing up front but it's not very effective.

If that's what you want to call it, so be it.....

Ace-BX-24 03-17-2009, 05:33 PM Hey just so you know from my personal experience I have a radio where the cubby used to be on the bottom and I hate it. When I am using my navigation or have a video playing I can't see it. I have a hard time with it and actually I am currently looking into modifying my factory radio so that a double din will fit there. If not I will mod the after market kit to get a double din radio on top. If any of you know of someone that had installed a radio where the bottom cubby is I am looking to purchase that cubby from them if there will to see it. Hit me up in a pm and I'll give you my contact info...
hillstones 03-17-2009, 08:16 PM There is no room behind the factory radio for a double-din headunit, unless you get out a saw and start cutting apart the dash behind the headunit.
