So, in 2005, they went to all red tail lights on the accord sedan. Does anyone want to trade their '04 tails for my '05s? I don't particularly care for the newer ones.

Would they fit even?

they should fit. i dont think they would have changed the shape since that would have required changes to the sheetmetal and bumper...especially with the MMC already planned for MY06, they wouldnt want to change anything major just for one year.

I know the outsides fit because I've seen a 03LX with all red corners, but he kept the trunklid lights stock, which made me question why he didn't just replace the whole thing. But, on the 6th gen, 01-02 lights (clear across the bottom) don't fit on the 98-00 (pink across the top).

Watch out when taking out the tailights, they are a bit of a tight fit at least mine are. I almost broke mine last week since I took it off to inspect a small bubble in the paint just below the lights.

I'll take a look at some of the schematics to see if they will fit... I don't see why not.

The part numbers for some of the body parts connecting are different.... I don't think it'll work with an '03..... Hopefully someone with an '04 will want to trade.

Well, it looks like just the gaskets changed from '03 to '04, but the '03 to '04 tails are the same, and the '04 gaskets are the same as the '05s. This makes me think it will work, but then again, I'm having second thoughts about taking that all apart :D .
I'll probably just wait a while until someone puts altezza lights on their accord and pick up some stock tails to install when I get the urge again.

I'd definately like to see if this works.... I've got an '05 and detest the all red tail lights..The 03-04's lights were much nicer. Was looking on Ebay and saw a few Altezza style lights, then I noticed a few signatures of forum members... N.A.T.O.. What's that about? What's wrong with Altezza lights anyone??

They look like pimples and they're outplayed and outdated. Plus, they're not street legal. Only TYC makes lamps that pass DOT visibility requirements - and they stick out 4-5 inches on the 6th gen, not sure if they make em for the 7th gen. You can rest assured, if you get a ticket, you ain't gonna win in court. And they're of questionable quality. 99% of them leak and go bad. Why treat a new car to such an injustice? Ya bought an Accord instead of a junky GM/Ford/Chrysler, why put sub-par illegal third world country produced untasteful lamps on it?

Point taken.....
How come there aren't any quality good looking aftermarket tail lights for the 7th Gen Accords? I think I might just have to go ahead and try doing a swap for the 2004 TailLights...

1) Most Accord owners wouldn't ever think about modding their cars to begin with - unlike a lot of Civic owners. No market for the taillights.
2) Most people cut corners. Let's see...street legal TYC taillights $250...APC taillights not street legal but look just as good...$100. What's the difference? Quality...but people don't understand that and that's why they get screwed and APC stays in business.

I was parked near an '03-04 and It looks like my car's outer taillights are slightly taller than the '03-'04's. I didn't look hard enough during the comparison so I could be wrong. Looks can be deceiving. ;)

I think it was just a trick, because I've seen an 03 with 05 lights on the outside (like I said before). I wonder if they did this "trick" on purpose to reduce the visual height of the rear end?

Most adults maybe, but when kids start inheriting these accords all of those altezza lights on ebay will sell like hot cakes :lmao:

Put on the right cars, altezza lights will actually improve that car's looks, but unfortunately 95% of all the cars and truck do not fall into that category. ;) It only looked good on cars with certain shades of silver, black, and red with 1-piece tails. When they try to make it for all cars, of all makes, that what ruined the look and that's why the next generation IS350 (Altezza) doesn't have them any more. They're not unique and doesn't make a statement any more.

There's been a few manufacturers who have tried to put altezzas with a red casing, like Jaguar and their S-Type. I think those look great :) They make them for the 5th gens too, look awesome as well.

I wonder how it would look to run '04 end lamps with the '05 centers... that might look ok. Anyone want to photo-chop that for me

If anyone local wants my '05s, I'm down for an afternoon swap... located in Fremont, CA.

I have never seen a 3rd gen with customized lights. 5th gens are propular because they're old now. I have only seen two 7th gens (remember there's at least a million of them out there now - 350K a year x 3 years) with these lights, and one was a sedan and one was a coupe. I still say there's no market...at least not for another 5 years when kids like me start getting their hands onto them.
