I have a 92 Accord LX with an automatic transmission and the speedometer has stopped working. The cruise control still works. Occasionally it comes back to life, but for the most part it does not work. The odometer also does not work but will start to work when the speedo starts working. There are no check engine lights. I am guessing that since the cruise still works that the speed snesor is not the problem? If it is the speedometer can it be fixed?

I had a similar experience with my '94. It turned out to be the speedometer head. They had to replace it twice in an 8,000 mile stretch (approximately). I believe the mechanism on later gen Accords is now different, but I'm not sure about that. On the bright side, you'll be starting with an odo at all zeros. On the downside, you won't be able to certify mileage when you sell/trade the car. Of course, if you're like me, that's not something that will keep you awake at night.

It's often the speedometer cable.

Dont think they have a cable. A lot of them went to electronic guages in the late 80s....
