Is there a way to let the factory alarm automatically arm itsself? Seems its too much work for my wife to hit the clicker. Now that the GPS is gone, this may be a good idea. Any thoughts would help.
Thanks

Your talking about the factory alarm right? markyta 03-13-2009, 08:03 PM yes, the factory alarm AznX TL 03-13-2009, 08:18 PM nope, its a hazard because you might lock your keys in the car. just tell her to press the lock button, theres really nothing easier than pressing a button once. ChickenCoupe09 03-13-2009, 09:20 PM yea you dont wanna lock yourself out. are you sure the issue isnt really that she is forgetting to lock the car? xJoeMama78 03-14-2009, 02:26 AM Is there a way to let the factory alarm automatically arm itsself? My 96' Integra factory alarm woud auto-arm. Yes it's possible to lock the key in the car, I've done it twice, but that's over 10 years of ownership of that car. I've forgotten to lock my Accord 3 times over the last 1.5 years, fortunately nothing has ever happened. I HAVE locked the keys in the Accord one time, this is how it happened: - Shut off the car, put the car keys in the winter coat pocket - Realized it was the lighter winter coat and I really want the heavier winter coat that was in the car - Changed coat, forgot to take the key out from the lighter coat - Got out of the car and manually locked the door by pushing down on the knob............, had to call CAA (equalvent of AAA) to unlock the car I'm back to lock the car via the remote, however given the choice I would still prefer an auto-arm/lock. xJoeMama78 03-14-2009, 04:39 AM My 96' Integra factory alarm woud auto-arm. What is this "winter coat" that you speak of??? illusion 03-14-2009, 09:03 AM I wanted the same thing but the dealer said there's no way it can do it, and not even the addon "upgrade" alarm can do it. Originally I was planning on a full alarm upgrade to a viper or something along those lines but after some poking around I found a good addon alarm with some great feature addons for about $120. Passive arm, shock sensor, glass breakage sensor, and window roll up. Better than the $800+ gimmick alarm upgrade the dealer try's to pedal. http://www.hornetcarsecurity.com/Products/Product.aspx?ProductID=805 OEM RKE upgrade, will work fine with factory alarm. $50 at amazon http://www.viper.com/P-506T/Audio+Glass+Break+Sensor for $15 at amazon. and http://www.kptechnologies.com/products.php?year=2009&make=Honda&model=Accord%20Sedan $50 for the KP window module. Should take an hour or two to install with minimal wiring. I plan to only hook up a few things on the alarm, enough to add auto arm and lock, and make the shock and glass sensors trigger the factory alarm. I've had passive arm and lock on every car I've owned for the last 20 years, and have only locked myself out once, knock on wood. xJoeMama78 03-14-2009, 09:10 AM I've had passive arm and lock on every car I've owned for the last 20 years, and have only locked myself out once, knock on wood. Same with me, not 20 years but 14. And I too locked myself out only once, too bad it was on my S10 with shaved door handles. That sucked big time.
