: LED Turn Signals
LFSoccer2k6 03-14-2009, 11:55 AM So on my 4dr 7th gen I finally got some LEDs for the front turn signals. I also have some load resistors, but there are 3 wires going into the socket for the bulb: black, red, brown. Which are the two I need to put the splice taps into? Thanks.
gtspaceii 03-14-2009, 06:32 PM If you have a multi-meter: you can test the brown and red wires to find out which one is the driving light (constant power) and which is the intermittent signal (gives intermittent signal regardless of headlight switch position); black, of course, being the ground. Once you've found out which one does what, you'll want to splice one end of the resistor to the ground wire (black) and the other to the intermittent-signal wire. At least that's how I figured it out; don't remember which wire is which, been so long since I wired the resistors to my car...best advice I can give... If you don't have a multi-meter, then you'll have to wait till someone gives you the info on which wire (brown or red) does what. I believe you can buy a cheap multi-meter at Wal-Mart for under 10 bones...don't quote me on that... ;)
LFSoccer2k6 03-15-2009, 03:48 PM i figured it out...thanks...for those of you who want to know:
Passenger Side: Use Black and Brown wire.
Drivers Side: Use Black and Red/Blue wire.
blood00286 03-15-2009, 09:50 PM what does this mod do? cus i am planning on putting some LEDs for turn signals.
LFSoccer2k6 03-16-2009, 05:30 AM it made it so i did not have hyper flash...also if you dont get any flash, then this will fix that as well.
rafael73 03-20-2009, 03:43 AM there must be a reg bulb that can do the 2 colors like the LED's.
LFSoccer2k6 03-20-2009, 05:15 AM i am not sure what you are talking about here rafael
thefourth 03-20-2009, 11:42 AM How do they look in broad daylight? I've gotten the impression that it is difficult to see LED bulbs during the daytime.
LFSoccer2k6 03-20-2009, 03:45 PM the rear are hard to see because the red drowns out the amber. However, I am planning on getting hybrid tails in a few months. Otherwise, they are not as easy to see as bulbs, but you can see them.
cingularpat 04-06-2009, 06:02 AM LFSoccer, did you put LED bulbs in your front lights for the turn signal/side marker? I'm interested to see what this looks like if you have any pics...
LFSoccer2k6 04-06-2009, 09:07 AM i did put LEDs in my front turn signals. see if this pic helps:
WolfpackBill 04-06-2009, 11:05 AM Nice! Lets see it in the daylight.
gtspaceii 04-06-2009, 11:20 AM Just as someone else had said in another thread about LED bulbs, daylight drowns out some of the LED light. During very bright days, it can be a bit hard to see my LED turn signal lights (both front and back). But, just like LFSoccer2k6 LED bulbs, mine are just as bright at night.
LFSoccer2k6 04-06-2009, 01:49 PM the day does drown it out some....but it still can be seen as a blinker.

Non LED bulb. For example: white on Park, amber on signal.
LFSoccer2k6 04-08-2009, 05:38 AM oh, i donno. the bulb usually takes on the color of the glass or color of the taillight housing, doesn't it?
rafael73 04-08-2009, 06:01 AM nope. there is one led that is dual color: white and amber. the thing is they are way expensive and you have to add the resistors, which i dont feel confy doing it
