Wud up everyone just wondering if any of you have tried using the yokohama s. drive tires and what your thoughts are on it? i have the stock 215/50/r17's on my car and was also wondering if you guys have any other preferences on good tires for the 1/4 mile? I tried looking at different brands (falken, nitto, bfgoodrich, toyo, kumho) and not many of them carry tires with the new tread design or the right size fitment. So if you guys have any experience or thoughts it be much appreciated! remember i'm trying to find some for the track and street so no slicks or drag radials...for now :naughty:

car type is 06 v6 coupe

Take your pick (based on my personal experience & personal recommendation, in order)...

Extreme performance summer tires (max' grip, aggressive tread-wear, poor wet traction):

- Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R/RE-11
- Yokohama Advan Neova AD07
- Falken Azenis RT-615
- Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
- Kumho Ecsta XS

Max' performance summer tires (excellent grip, moderate tread-wear, good wet traction):

- Bridgestone Potenza RE50A Pole Position*
- Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
- Michelin Pilot Sport 2
- Yokohama ADVAN Sport
- Continental ContiSportContact3

* my personal recommendation

"Budget" high-perf' summer tires (good grip, average tread-wear, great wet traction):

- BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW
- Sumitomo HTRZ III
- Yokohama S Drive
- Kumho Ecsta SPT
- Toyo T1-R

(note, some of the aforementioned tires have All-Season & Touring versions... those won't give the perf' needed)

^^^ I'd definitely recommend checking into the Sumitomo HTR-Z III

I have them on my Mazdaspeed6 and they are AMAZING. They're actually listed as MAX performance tires.... and they DEFINITELY grip like it in summer temps (anything above ~40*F really). Don't let the "low"-ish price of them fool you.... they stick.

I had the S Drives on my Mazda 3 for a while, along with BFG KDWs, Eagle F1 GSD3s and Falken FK 452s.

The S Drive were a good balance, but didn't hold a candle to the KDW's or GSD3's in the wet or dry. The KDW's got extremely noisy after about 10k miles, but had the best grip of the bunch. The GSD3's were the best in the wet, barely ahead of the KDW's.
