I have a 1996 accord that doesn't have an alarm installed or auto start but it does have an anti-theft device. Last night I went to run an errand and the car wouldn't start, It won't even turn over. I checked the battery and since it's an old car, replaced the battery and still nothing happens even though all of the lights and radio are working so I know the battery is not the issue anymore.

The ignition went out 2 years ago and I have since replaced it. Does anyone know what could be causing it to not start. I thought maybe the antitheft had something to do with it but I am not sure.

Ronda81:

You give rather modest information (otherwise) about your car. You have me walking around in the dark to provide any suggestions to you.

The anti-theft device/system you mention may not or may be the problem. Sorry, but I have absolutely NO idea.

But you may care to try these suggestions:

1) Have the entire ignition system checked.
2) Have the starter (motor) checked.
3) Have the fuel system checked.

I strongly suggest you take it to your Honda dealer, else a qualified mechanic, to run simple tests. They should not charge much to do so.
