...the fact that inflating 1 tire would cost between $2.00 and $10.00 is definately a con...not sure about the pros.

Moved to Wheels and Tires.

Aircraft tires are filled with nitrogen for a number of reasons:
- much less reaction with wheels and rubber due to its' inert nature
- less change in volume with increased temperature, such as when landing and when brakes are applied
- larger particles at atomic level, less leakage
- does not react with any oil/grease unlike oxygen which can lead to combustion and devastating explosion of the tire assembly
- FAA mendated it in 1987

As for using it for passenger car tires, well I doubt very much you are gaining anything........, as the air you and I breath is already approximately 84% nitrogen.......

meh, i only did it with my old car so that i wouldnt have to check the pressure so often. but now that we have TPMS we don't really have to worry about it until the light comes on.

Please use the search feature. This has been discussed more than UFO's. Seriously, put nitrogen in the search feature for a month of reading........and none of it comes to a conclusion!
