Well I am finally getting a new car. My wife sold her previous car, 1992 Accord EX coupe a couple of months ago. I loved that car, had 210,000 miles on it and still ran great. I had every intention to wait and buy a 2006 thinking they would really change the styling for the best. I was very disapointed to say the least. I decided to see what kind of deal I could get on an 05 and it didn't take me long to jump all over it. I contacted about 10 dealers, gotta love the internet, and finally found one that would sell it for about $500 under invoice. I just couldn't believe it. I have bought/ owned several Honda's and never figured I would be able to buy one more than $3000 under sticker. I am still not crazy about the styling but the overall package is what sold me. A very practical, reliable, safe, efficient, family moving machine that you aren't embarrased to cruise in by yourself.

So I am going to pick it up tonight. Accord Sedan EX-L , 4-clyinder, Auto, and Navigation. I really wish I could have had the manual transmission but the wife said she wanted and auto. I am sure it would have been even more rare than the one I ended up with. I ended up paying 23,650 but got snagged for the mud flaps ($120.00, they wanted $199.00 and I was going to get them anyway) and the worthless VIN etching that cost $299. I tried to get out of this but the car was already $1000 cheaper than anyone else would give it to me, I didn't really have anymore room to bargain. I will let you know how we like it later, I have a trip planned for the 4th and should give us plenty of time to test the goods.

All by the way, I got the graphite pearl and gray interior. Planning on adding the trunk spoiler (wifes idea), lip spoiler and fogs in the future.

This is my fisrt post here as well, some of the people may recognize my name from some other boards.

Welcome!! I have to agree. I use to dislike the styling. I think it is ok now and actually think the coupes are very classy looking.

Congrats!

That sounds like a great price! Maybe I should re-think this navi option...

Welcome, tryin! Which spoiler are you planning on getting? Rear decklid spoilers look pretty sleak on a Graphite grey sedan.

There are many converted Accord owners/ future owners on this site (I'm one of them). Many went from absolutely hating the design and swearing never to get the car to actually purchasing or saving to purchase the car. As far as I know, Honda is the only company that could do this. You won't regret your purchase!

Well guys the deal is done but the car didn't come in last night. They had to get it about 300 miles away and it didn't make it in time for us to drive it home. My wife was hartbroken because they had the exact car pulled up front under the canopy all shined up and I told her it was hers. Man she was floored when she saw it and was very excited. About half way through filling out the papers we brought up driving it home and the salesmen had this look on his face like, you relize your car won't be here until tomorrow?? I said our car is sitting out front all shined up and ready to go isn't it? He said that one doesn't have nav. OMG, I thought my wife was going to explode. I didn't really care because of the smoking deal I was getting (ended up 25,300 OTD) and wasn't going to pull the plug regardless, wish he would have said something though. So they are bringing the car to our house today, I am planning on taking half a day off and starting our fourth of July trip early. Hoping to make it to Outback about 5:30 and have an ice cold Fosters on draft to celebrate our new purchase, my wifes graduation from nursing school and my moms 50th birthday. Should be a good day!

Stiller fan, yep, cordclub.

Guys, you know what, when I drove up last night and saw that Accord EX all shined up sitting under the canopy I suddenly fell in love with the looks of the car. It looks so much better when it isn't sitting with all of the other Accords on the lot. I love the color combination.

SSMV6, my wife wants the big spoiler, I really don't want either but would rather prefer the decklid.

Tiger W, if you are planning on getting the nav I wouldn't hold off much longer on your purchase. These cars are getting very rare, especially in my color combination. My experiance with other dealers is they will compete aggresively on the price of the EX cars without nav but you will have to get lucky to get a below invoice deal on a nav car. I got lucky but the car was 300 miles away and had to pay an extra $100 to get it brought in.

I will have pics by Tuesday, Promise!

Congrats on the new purchase. Get the decklip spoiler instead of the one with the led brake light. Navi= But why not go all out and get v6? :dunno: Gas prices?? I understand. :D

Because Honda makes the best four cylinder on the planet. I have had five of these cars and never had a problem out of any of them. Fuel economy is very important to me as well. I currently drive a 1995 Honda Civic DX that has 177,000 miles on it. The car still looks new and my last three tanks of gas have returned 47, 43, and 45 mpg. The car sings down the road like new. I am expecting to exceed the 34 mpg on the interstate on this car as well. We put about 20,000 miles a year on a car so fuel milage with gas being 2.40 a gallon is very important to me.

Also, the new four cylinders have a timing chain instead of belt. I have changed the timing belts on my other Honda's and would prefer not to have to do it again.

So to sum it up, better fuel milage, cheaper on maintenance, less cost up front, and believe it or not, better resale value. And yes, I know I the navigation option will not hold it's value but we travel alot and I feel it will be worth it, not to mention you can watch movies on it (after modifications), install back-up camera, etc.

Any chance the MY06 V6 models will get the timing chain ? (does the Acura TL have it)

Doubtful. The 4-cylinder model was changed in 2003.

Guys, I didn't get my car last Friday!! I took half a day off work and when I got home, no car! We had to call the dealership twice instead of them calling us and letting us know there was problems. The first problem the car was stuck in Knoxville in traffic, the second problem, THEY BROUGHT BACK THE WRONG CAR! So it was like 5:00 and still no car. I called the service manager and told them to get me a car I can drive on my trip NOW! An hour later they showed up with a 2003 lx with 66,000 miles on her, great car and not one rattle. We drove the car all weekend, put about 700 miles on it. They even offered to pay gas fees! So called the dealer this morning, my car should be here by lunch time. I guess we will see....

tryin - congrats on your new accord. I hope the dealer finally got it to you! I just bought my accord on May 31st (Sedan AT EXL-Navi, Graphite Pearl) - got the holdbacks for May and made it $24500 on the road (MD 5% tax, destination, mud guards, wheel locks & pinstripe included). I believe it was right around $23000 before all the extra fees. I already have 3500 miles on it...I couldn't be happier! :D

Hey all,

As you can see, I'm new to the forum. Just bought a new White '05 Accord Value Package. It's basically the DX with A/C. Got it for $16,316 plus Tax & Licensing.... It's Automatic.... Would rather have got a manual, but they didn't have one in, and for some reason, I couldn't wait...Well, Hello Again to all!

You'll be seeing more of me on this forum!

OK guys, finally got my car    Dealer delivered yesterday, everything as promised.

brandon, that is the best deal I have seen on this model yet. Most dealers I talked to wanted extra because they thought this car was a rare jule. I flat out told them that it was a Honda Accord and someone will be willing to sell at my price. Finally, I found one.

I haven't even got to drive the car yet, my wife took it after delivery to go see her Grandparents in Georgia and won't be back until Sunday. I guess I will have to wait until Sunday to play with it. I will see if I can get some pictures up soon.

tryin - I originally found a price more like $23600, and I put the deposit down on that car. When I got home, I had a voicemail from Anderson Honda here in Baltimore and he (the internet manager) beat that price by $600. I didn't push very much lower than that...I was ecstatic with that price. He didn't have one on the lot, but he brought one in from DC and when I got the car it had 65 miles on it. Not bad at all...

I wanted a MT because of the added gas mileage and I test drove an LX with a manual and it is WAY more fun to drive...but the AT should come in handy with beltway traffic...<grrr> :thumbsdow
