is there a way to activate the navigation/climate/radio voice control system without using the TALK button on the steereing wheel?. I know the "voice feedback" on the set up setting, but I think that only allows the system to talk back to you. How can I activate the voice control system in any other way other than the TALK button on the steering wheel?

anyone? I recently purchase this car, it has the navigation and the mic, but the steering wheel is missing the TALK | BACK buttons so I would like to know if there is any way that I can turn on the Voice Control through the Navi Display? Thanks for any help.

Mellow my friend! I'm guessing the lack of responses means no body (including me) knows another way.

Was this added to the car later I wonder. There is someone on the site that added it to a non-nav car.

Anyway, I rarely use mine. It was fun at first and the kids loved it, but since I have steering wheel controls for sound and the other buttons for heat and ac are so close it does not get used much. Plus, I usually have to repeat things a few times. Its' easier just to reach over and hit the button and be done. You've also got to turn the fan down, close the windows and sunroof for it to understand you.

The only time I really use it and it works good is putting in address for the NAV.

Enjoy the NAV anyway. I love mine.

If you are missing the Talk/Back button, then the Accord did not have Navigation installed at the factory. It was a custom install job done later. I did the same installation with my Accord and didn't want to mess around with the steering wheel and wiring in that area, so I never bothered with the voice recognition. Also, the guy I bought the custom kit from wanted more money for voice recognition, and his set up was done with generic buttons on the dash.

Most people I know don't even bother using the voice recognition. It doesn't really work well when you have music playing and the AC blowing. The system is fully functional without voice recognition. An easy way to find out if you have it installed is to take down the upper panel in the headliner to see if the mic is installed. It is between the two map lights in front of the homelink buttons, you will see the vented holes.

Yes, the mic is installed. The mic and everything is there (except the talk/back buttons). But I guess it's fine, I really don't want to buy or install the the TALK/BACK button at this time, that's why I wanted to know if there was another way to be able to use the mic without it to see if it works. I just recently purchased the car and have already spent like $1500 in it so for now I'll just keep it as it is. I'm just gonna try to fix the things that I need. Thanks for your great input on this.

That is strange. I wonder what happened to the Back/Talk buttons? I don't think Honda would install the mic in a non-navi Accord, so yours must have had navi from the factory. If the the Back/Talk button was removed, I wonder why someone would do that.

In either case, enjoy the Navi, I know I do....or will again soon. My CD changer died so I am on the search for a new headunit. In the meantime, I had to go back to my non-navi headunit.

It sounds to me like the steering wheel might have been replaced. Was the car ever in a front end collision? Maybe if the airbags went off they decided to replace the steering wheel with a non-navi steering wheel?

I was just about to suggest the same thing!
