early this morning i was driving on I-287 thru white plains and they are doing a lot of construction on overpasses and stuff there. from one of the overpasses i saw a golf ball size rock hit the ground, bounce up and was heading straight for my car. i thought, oh sh*t, this is it, my windshield is about to break. the rock hit my windshield and did not even leave a mark! i was just wondering if anybodys windshield cracked and what happened that made it crack.

I had a similar experience. Only it was a wooden 1ft x 1ft floor tile that flew off a truck. No damage.

Yep I have, I went to the Integra Type R Expo last year with my buddy and we we're driving back from getting something to eat. The truck in front of us ran off the road into some rocks and one hit my windshield. I didn't think anything of it, I stop checked nothing wrong then. Then I wake up the next morning and find a good 4-5 cracks down the wind shield. Needless to say cover by insurance, but didn't get factory replacement.

I caught a small rock over the summer that left a tiny chip... it was a hot day - I got home, parked my car, and when I came out 3 hours later, there was a 10-inch crack in the windshield. Insurance replaced, but the glass place said they're seeing a lot of newer Accords cracking quickly like this, and they're recommending third party replacement (even though they could charge insurance for OEM). I have a new chip from this past week now, so hopefully the aftermarket glass will hold up better than the OEM.

u can say that again, it took a few hours and the crack was huge. btw how much did you pay for your windshield replacement?

I got one from a rock about the size of a quarter kicked up from a car in front of me. The crack went from about 3 inches to 5 inches after sitting in the garage, its off to the side of the windshield and doesn't bother me unless the sun hits it just right. If it spreads anymore I plan on getting it replaced, but for the time being its fine.

Just replaced my windshield this past weekend. A lot of construction on the highways after a rough winter so you can imagine crap flying everywhere to and from work everyday. Depending on your deductible it might not be worth it to go through insurance. Searched for pricing for 8th gen coupe windshield for two weeks. Prices varied from $560 CDN +taxes at the dealer to as low as $200 CDN CASH from a Mobile Installer (aftermarket windshield) or $250 CASH for OEM. I went with the mobile guy and he installed it right in my driveway in about an hour and was able to source me OEM from his supplier!! He did great work but I know he didn't appreciate me sitting in my beach chair watching his every move!! LOL. Glad I did my research.

Your insurance should pay for a chip repair, they prefer that to full replacement since it costs much less. You could also pay someone to fix it, or you can buy a kit to fix it yourself. I bought one at Walmart for about $10 and used it to fix 2 chips on my truck. It seems to work very well as the chips have not turned into cracks in over 2 years.

I don't know the details of insurance in Canada, but in the US most full coverage policies have no deductible full glass coverage. I've never paid a deductible for a new windshield or a chip repair.

All different flavours of insurance up here!! Some policies have full coverage, but typically, (at least in my experience) the lower the deductible, the higher the premium and vice versa. In my case, insurance co said that i had to file a claim to get it replaced. Windshield was only $50 more than my deductible so obviously it didn't make any sense to file a claim.

Nothing as major as a golfball rock, but I've been pegged by a tiny @ss rock that left a chip. Luckily insurance paid to have the chip filled.

i feel lucky not to have chipped my windshield. i thought it was going to happen for sure. especially since i had a dream the night before that my windshield broke on the highway. talk about a weird coincidence.

In December I had gotten behind a salt truck in West Virgina on the interstate and it did not do anything to the windshield but sure did chip up the bumper!
