I got my scanner working - found that I've got two codes. Can't seem to find out what this one means (don't have the service manual yet). Can anybody look this up for me? P0496 (2005 I4 5spd Manual - PZEV (CA emissions))
Wife is bringing the car in tomorrow, want to be sure they fix both...
Thanks

According to daz manual it has to do something about the "EVAP System High Purge Flow" :paranoid:

Thanks!
Seems related to the P0456 "Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (very small leak)" code.
My google search was unsuccessfull as well :thumbsdow

Did you just put in gas and forget to tighten the cap?

Mass has adopted CA emissions laws - I know I paid extra for the CA emissons - I'm assumming it gets me the PZEV, which as far as I know is only the evaperative fuel part... I thought it was for both the A/T & M/T?
Something is malfunctioning in the fuel system - the car takes a LOOOONG time to start after refuelling. - I don't overfill - stop at 1 click. Also I tighten the cap every time.

Well wife took it in yesterday - service writer tried to tell her we weren't putting the gas cap on tight enough - She stood her ground (I coached her a bit beforehand). They "tightened up the system" & cleared the code (45 minutes of work).
They wouldn't take her for a ride to fill up the tank to reproduce the hard start until I gave them a hard time on the phone. Surprise, surprise, it still starts hard after refuelling. MIL is back on this morning (with the P0496 code). :thumbsdow
We are scheduled to drop it off next week so they can tinker w/o us watching over them...
Anybody know a good dealer in NE Mass? This is the second one I'm not pleased with (and it came recommended by others...)
