View Full Version : Replacing Glass in Driver's Side Mirror ertyu 07-06-2005, 08:50 AM Is this something that can be easily done, how? (2005 Accord Sedan EX-V6) princess 07-06-2005, 11:34 AM Here's instructions for the holder replacement.... it will give you an idea.... U.S.A-Produced 4-door Adjust the mirror fully to the inward position. Insert a long, thin flat-tipped screwdriver along the ribs (A) on the mirror holder (B). Slide the tip of the screwdriver between the mirror holder and the actuator (C). Quickly twist the screwdriver to separate the mirror holder from the mirror actuator. Insert the screwdriver further under the mirror holder and twist it again. NOTE: Do not pry up on the mirror holder to separate the two parts, as this can cause either the mirror glass or actuator to break. princess 07-06-2005, 11:36 AM Separate the mirror holder (A) from the actuator (B) by slowly pulling them apart while separating the adhesive (C). If equipped, disconnect the mirror defogger connectors (D) from the heater pad terminals. Remove any remaining adhesive from the actuator. If equipped, reconnect the mirror defogger connectors. Reattach the mirror holder to the actuator, then position the mirror holder on the actuator. Carefully push on the mirror holder until the mirror holder snaps into place. Check the operation of the actuator. ertyu 07-07-2005, 07:23 AM I wonder if the mirror part comes attached to the holder, or if you have to reassemble that? Held together with tape, eh. princess 07-07-2005, 07:37 AM Call a parts depts. they should be able to tell you...if it comes with the glass. A very special tape! ertyu 07-07-2005, 07:51 AM Looks like its just the glass. No instructions on replacing that? It looks like the holder has a lip all the way around that the glass sits in, I'm not sure how you'd get a new piece in there. ertyu 07-07-2005, 01:34 PM The online parts guide I found show the glass and holder as one part. I ordered it, we'll see what it is when it arrives. ertyu 07-08-2005, 03:20 PM It does come with the holder and looks like a new set of tape. Unfortunately the right side mirror wrongly packaged in the left side box doesn't help. princess 07-08-2005, 04:13 PM Unfortunately the right side mirror wrongly packaged in the left side box doesn't help. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Sounds like something packed by the government!! I have a hard time with car's right & left.... so I always say "passenger side" & "driver's side". Is it right when standing in front or sitting inside? It's been so confusing to me! Hope the next time it comes in correctly for you! ertyu 07-08-2005, 04:43 PM I did mention driver's side, left side, etc. and they did order "Mirror, L", unfortunately the right side came in the package with the left side part number. princess 07-08-2005, 05:10 PM Oh, I wasn't meaning you or the one taking the order made any mistake! The packer apparently didn't know their right from left.... I'm honestly confused by it! I've been told the terms a bizillion times, it just won't stick since it doesn't make sense to me.... one of those "who decided" moments. My left or yours. ertyu 07-12-2005, 09:02 AM So they searched the warehouse and only 1 of the 15 parts in stock was correctly packaged. Gandaalf 07-28-2005, 12:49 PM So they searched the warehouse and only 1 of the 15 parts in stock was correctly packaged. What store/warehouse did you order from? I busted the passenger side mirror as I was backing my Accord out of the garage this morning. Mirror glass is intact. However the connector (part B and C) in the 2nd picture provided by Princess took a beating and needs to be replaced. I am hoping I can buy this separately or at least they come with the mirror glass. Rest of assembly seems fine and it would be a shame if I had to replace it. The dealership wants me to replace the entire assembly. I hope I don't have too! Please help! Thanks a bunch. I just ordered mine from the dealer. None of the other vendors I found could supply the 2005 Canadian version. Gandaalf 07-29-2005, 08:32 AM Part C would require new mirror glass part, Part B would require a whole new mirror assembly I believe. I just ordered mine from the dealer. None of the other vendors I found could supply the 2005 Canadian version. Thanks for the info Ertyu. I ordered the entire assembly. I ordered from an Honda OEM online storefront which is really a Honda Dealership in Colorado. Their price was substantially less than what the local dealer (Illinois) was asking. Will be happy to post their name and URL (online and dealership) if anyone's interested and after I receive the right part! :) Gan |
