Hi,

I am looking to get one of these to hook up my ipod to my factory stereo in my 2005 Accord LX sedan.

Does anyone know if I will be able to control the ipod thru my radio controls?

Also, does this unit charge the ipod as well?

Thanks!!

The SNHOND3 is strickly an AUX converter, no charging, no controls. Something like the Dension Icelink has charging and controls and works with 05 Accord.

i'm not sure i see the advantage of the SNHOND3 then over say an FM modulator...

Improved sound quality.

myke - Here is what you are looking for http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piehon03pcpod.html

You will be able to control your Ipod via the HU in the car as well as charge the Ipod when it is plugged into the unit. This will be coming out in the very near future.

And as ertyu pointed out, you will get much better sound than FM Modulator. I will disagree with his order however :) Cassette Adapter is better than FM Modulator.

Oh great, thanks for the info...

That one you mention is only $159, which is a good thing.

Do you know if there are there any differences between that and the dension icelink one? (http://www.densionusa.com/icelink_info.htm)

Thanks!

Sorry, can't help you there. I don't have an Ipod, so not much help. I have been researching Aux inputs for adding my XM MyFi in my wife's Ody and have seen these during my research.

My guess is the big difference will be the ability of the Icelink to display track information such at Artist and song title on the HU of the car. I don't believe that this would be possible with the Accord, but I could be wrong.

interesting... well if you don't mind i do have one more question...

are you saying that the one from logjamelectronis WILL display the track info on the stock honda stereo? that would be so great if it did...

thanks again!

Not a problem and please don't take all I say as the final truth. There are a lot more people that know more about this than I do. I just love electronics and try and keep somewhat up to date on what is possible.

I believe that IceLink has the capability to display track information such as Artist and song title via the HU. The P.I.E. unit will let you control the Ipod through the headunit and will display track number etc, but will NOT display the Artist and song title. It it were my $$$$ I would buy the one from logjamelectronics.

I don't think either solution can currently display text on the Accord HU.

There is also the MLink from Blitzsafe which does Aux and charging, but no control. Blitzsafe says some time in the future they will have an Aux, Control, Charge adapter, but they've been saying that for a long time.

I've been told it goes like this:

1) Aux adapter
2) Tape adapter (too bad the tape is a $200+ option)
3) Inline FM Mod
4) Wireless FM Mod

Anyhow, I can't wait until they lower the price on these things... feel like they are ripping us off ($100 for the stinking thing when other cars get $60 ones... not like Accord is a Benz or something)

I was thinking of getting a Honda tape deck and cannibalizing it to turn it into an aux adapter that works with XM. Anyone see any flaws with my evil plan?

Just price.. the tape kits are well over $200.

The aux adapter for xm is $100.... waiting for it to hit $60 before I get mine =).

Don't get the icelink...terrible product & customer service!

I used it with my 5G ipod and it always hangs(CD-C mode doesn't show up- ipod doesn't play)

It's fine if you don't mind turning on ignition then plugging it in and taking it out after you turn off the ignition. Repeat the process everytime you want it to work without having to pull out the HU fuse for your CD-c mode to show up if you want to leave ipod plugged in.

I've emailed Dension many times and they don't reply to e-mails probably for the fact that so many people are having problems with their product. Your best bet would be to wait for Honda musiclink to come out and make sure Dension has nothing to do with it!

Just writing out of my experience with the hours of work trying to get it to work(?)

I'm just bitter cause this unit is US$200 and doesn't run smoothly.

i have a 2006 honda accord ex v6. i have the xm button but my trial thing ended. does that mean my radio is equipped with xm? and if so when i get the soundgate SNHOND3 they'll unplug the xm plug? will this affect the standard radion or the 6disc cd player?

That's funny. I do use Icelink. It is not consistent as mentioned above. It sure sounds good when it works.
