more powerful, yet smaller, quieter and more efficient.
140 hp, 128 lb/ft, and should get EPA 40+ mpg on the highway.

Impressive for an SOHC. I hope they drop a DOHC head on it and make another B-series screamer :)

i'm guesstimating that the Si will have the K20A2 from the pre-MMC RSX-S, so theres your "B-series screamer" :) . i dont doubt that a sedan Si will be released sometime in the next year or two either, seeing as how Honda just dropped the 6MT in the Accord V6 sedan. :D

I wonder why they did not just run the K series in the Civic. I think it would have made much more sense. In some countries overseas, the Civic sedan has an avail K20A 155HP/5-speed auto.
I just wish the K20 would get cheaper :( I'm outdated now, but like 6 months ago they were still going for $5-6K.

my guess is that the K-motor is too "inefficient" for the Civic nameplate in the US, which has been getting nearly 40mpg EPA highway since forever....or its because the DOHC setup is too complicated/costly and not really needed for a low output engine in a Civic.
the ancient D-series needed a sucessor anyways. they have the L-series overseas which is used in the fit/jazz, the high output K-series, and now the new R series fits snugly in between.
