It's such a hassle looking down to do anything, plus if I have any passengers, they can hardly see it.

I'm not just going to make a topic to complain though... I'm planning a fix. I've already started working on it. I'll post pics once some substantial progress has been made.

Well this project has come to an end. I didn't have the skills or time required to complete this project. Fortunately someone on a different forum I frequent did. They made this but they sold their accord to move on to a Chrysler 300c, so they sold me the part. It's beautiful and works just as I need it too. The pictures are from their accord, not mine. I'm gonna sand and repaint it before I install it.

No A/C Vents?

Aarmin
04-25-2009, 07:59 PM
Whaat, are they just using the side A/C vents?

xayjtu
04-25-2009, 08:22 PM
Yea, I covered up the AC vents with superglue and ABS plastic. The air is redirected to the side vents, which blow twice as strong...

are you thinking about selling your double-din lower dash kit?

xayjtu
04-26-2009, 10:16 AM
Yes, actually. I'd probably sell it cheap, considering I'm still using the t-harness. PM me...

thats actually the dumbest thing i've ever seen

SOOO UGLY
why dont you just get the 150$ harness kit to replace the stock HU instead of chopping and glue'n crap to the car?......

Wow, thankfully that is not your car. That is one ugly piece of shit. Maybe if he stuck with the basic black interior, it wouldn't look so bad. Even his blue trim around the gauges looks lame. Blocking the AC vents? What a dumbass! He must not live in an area with hot or cold weather. If you really want a double-din installation, sell your Accord and get a 2002 or 2008+ Accord so you can do it right. The 03-07 was never intended to have a double-din in the factory location. Maybe yours will look better with a flat black surface when you repaint it. However, your rear passengers will be pissed with no center AC vents. If you want to do it right, install the factory Nav in your Accord.

I think the guy's "Perforated" pants explain everything. WTF is with that blue paint? Loser!

jesus, that is horrible, i may hate the stock radio but hell am i giving up my AC! that nasty blue paint job looks like its peeling and bubbling too :puke:

It's the quality of the piece that's off. The finish is crap and the corners where it meets the screen are waaaay off. That's a hack job!

The $150 metra kit is for single DIN HUs. I'm using a double...

And the AC vent's still work, the air is just redirected to the side vents. The car is still cooled the same. I personally prefer windows down over AC any day...

The OEM nav conversion is way too costly, and doesn't have nearly as many features as what I'm putting in.

if the ppl in the back's viewer pleasure is what u aiming at. you can always get the flip up?? or do the single din mod..it'll look nicer. instead of having that.

**i dont' know where u live..but where i am from (texas) it draws attention from po po if they see you have ur dvd player on while driving..espeically at that height.

but anyway hope it work out for you.

Post some pics when you are done...hopefully it will look better than that guy's piece of shit install. What features are you putting in? Windows over AC? I guess you don't live in any southern region of the US.

I like the idea of having the gps up in the eye line but the idea that I'd have to put that in my dash to do it makes it not worth while

This is the funniest thread I have seen in a while.:lmao:

Reminds me of the kid who washed his car and put Armor-All on the treads of his tires, then asked what was wrong with the car when he drove into a brick wall.

:lmao:

BTW, your mod looks like crap. :thumbsdow

lol your looking at only one dash install kit
there are two
one for the single din flip out
and one for the double din

i'd drop 150$ + 400-600$(for the hu) on a kit before installing that home made thingy in my car... :P

Did you not read the thread? Yes, there are two kits, but the double din kit doesn't replace the stock radio. It goes in the cubby area. I already have that kit. I'm trying to avoid looking down while driving.

Now THAT is the funniest shit I have ever read! BTW, it is NOT his mod. That's how it is installed in the car from the guy he bought it from. We are all hoping he makes it look decent...as he said, he plans on painting it.

WOW you guys are a bunch of jerks. way to thread dump. Its not necessarily my favorite mod either but Id like to you guys get even close to making something like that....plus its more custom then any of your Accords and if the OP likes it then back off and go be a jerk to someone else.

We arent bashing the guy as a person.................just the install. It does look bad. If he didnt want opinions on it, he shouldnt have posted pics or even come in here with what he planned on doing. IMHO....... :dunno:

If he didn't want anyone's opinion, then why did he complain about his aftermarket stereo installed in the lower pocket and why did he post photos of the hack job that he planned on installing? He certainly did want opinions because he created the thread, and posted photos.

No one is bashing him as a person, we are stating our opinion of the terrible install that another person did to their Accord. Since he bought the guy's kit, we are only stating our opinion on how bad it looks (which we have every right to do so). Apparently, you agreed that it looks terrible, yet you have the nerve to insult everyone else.

If you bothered to read any of my other posts, I told him to post pictures of the completed job and hopefully he will make it look better than the guy that originally did the kit.

if you have a litle display above your ac vents you can actually get a half-din screen and put it in there...seen it done many times looks REALLY good and clean
