The folks at TOV (vtec.net) put two different 7th gen accords with K24's on two different dynos and found that the factory ratings for horsepower and torque (160hp, 160ft.lbs.) should be higher by about 10hp and 15ft.lbs!!  :notworthy  that explains alot!

Very good article, thanks. The butt dyno made me wonder if this was slightly underrated by Honda and it's so!

Thanks 04blkpearlcoupe for sharing!!! It explains why I had no problems accelerating, from 53 MPH to 85 MPH, around a wide-load (house) on 2-lane part of Highway 99 (during a break between the opposite traffic), traveling from Redding to Chico last week!!! AIr was on AUTO and the outside temp was 100-degrees!
Love my Accord!!! :D

this 2.4L engine is the BEST 4 banger engine that I have ever owned. The most refined and smooth engine. And I had alot of cars (bmw, audi, vw, chevy, etc).

i have to agree with Jason. I've owned a few 4 bangers and this one feels more like a smooth 6.
BTW, what I meant when I said it explains alot was that it explains why I seem to beat everyone off the line at stoplights even though I'm not giving it much gas. I compare this to driving my folks' 2000 subaru forrester and say that the same amount of pedal pressure leaves me riding along with the pack instead of getting ahead of them.

I think a lot of us knew this already, but I like having the dyno's for comparison. Wanna see something really freaky? Look at the charts - the PEAK torque comes at ~2700RPM...this is worthy of being in a BMW or Mercedes, easily :)

Hmmm... owning both a 05 Accord and an 02 Altima that is rated at 170 HP, I am surprised by their findings although I beleive them.
While the Accord is not slow by any means, it is no match for Nissan's 2.5 in my experience.
Of course - Nissan's engine sometimes feels like a diesel in comparison to Accord's smooth purrrrrrr...
Good stuff though! It was definitely a good choice to buy it!

Rookie- I have both an Altime (auto) and an Accord (manual)... although the Altima seems quicker of the line it dies off up top and I have no doubt that the Accord is quicker. This might have something to do with the Accord being a manual, but still!

i drove in D3 sometimes.. in the city, and man.. it pulls... all teh way from 2500 - 5500 rpm... (yes... i didn't want to redline it... :paranoid: )
