I brought my 2003 accord used from someone. The car has lojack and I the 2 transmitter or responders (Don't know what it is called) on each key. Lojack says I have to pay $60 to transfer it. Just wanted to know if I need to do this or can I just go to the police with my VIN # or transponder?

LOJACK is a private company. The police departments have nothing to do with the product. When you report your car stolen, the PD enters the vehicle into the NCIC database as a stolen vehicle. This information is also sent automatically to LOJACK. IF you have everything paid up, they activate the unit. If not, nothing happens.

Sooooo, you have to pay them to transfer the service if thats what you want.

I have it, I work for a police department.... we have LOJACK receivers in some of our cars.....
