View Full Version : Spacers
jpdaigle 04-15-2009, 04:55 AM Yoohooo! I finaly got my new tires on my 18" v6 wheels! The guy at the shop had some wheel spacers that he didn't use anymore and we tried putting em on my car.
What do you guys think about spacers?? The only problem a see is that there's less thread for the lug. They're 8mm so it's not a big deal... but it's 8mm better than without em..... Now I need to order 2 more for the front and i'm just wondering if it worth it.
MSchu 04-15-2009, 05:02 AM I have used them with no problems at all... as long as they are hubcentric and of good quality. if you go big, expect to use extended lugs
mattchatwin 04-16-2009, 08:53 PM I'm interested in opinions as well because I just had my StopTech Big Break Kit test fitted on my 08 coupe and I need spacers....the stock 18 inchers on the V6 need about 4mm and my summer Axis Penta rims need 6mm. The shop suggested 10mm since H&R makes them now for our car and they're hubcentric. What do you guys think about them in the front only? Should I put spacers in the rear as well (rears always seem to need them for look more-so, anyway) or should i get the wider rims in the rear (stagger) to complete the look. How does this effect ride, handling, stearing geometry, etc.
Thanks for your opinions!
MSchu 04-17-2009, 04:13 AM I would space out the rear to.... I will be doing this. you wont notice any issues @10mm, specially since they are hubcentric
AznCaliThug09 04-17-2009, 04:38 AM i am planning to use spacers on my rear wheels for that "stagger" look and im looking forward to it... the guy doing the install on the megan coilovers is gonna hook me up with it.
jpdaigle 04-17-2009, 06:12 AM at 10mm it will be a little bit short on lug thread though....
and the ones i'm testing right now are not even hubcentric and i can't feel any vibrations..
MSchu 04-17-2009, 06:22 AM I will be going with ARP lugs. I suggest other do to if you plan on putting 10mm or more
jpdaigle 04-17-2009, 07:06 AM what do you mean?? changing the stock studs from the hub??? things like that : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Blox-Lug-Nuts-ARP-Extended-Wheel-Studs-94-01-Integra_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66 Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c2 93Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZ item280334119756QQitemZ280334119756QQptZMotorsQ5fC arQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories??
MSchu 04-17-2009, 07:16 AM Yes... I usually use those on my cars if necessary. I think most cars OEM studs are okay for 10mm or so. I just need the added surface area based on the duty my car gets
jpdaigle 04-17-2009, 07:21 AM well... i might consider this to go wider..
but why do they make spacers with extra studs (like this : http://cgi.ebay.ca/25MM-WHEEL-ADAPTER-SPACER-ACCORD-S2000-PRELUDE-CIVIC_W0QQitemZ150329529644QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMoto rs_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1503295296 44&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1215%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318) if we can just swap the oem studs? I don't get it...
mystick6 04-17-2009, 09:19 AM I also plan on getting spacers for the rear. I was wondering what size mm should I go with? Im thinking between 20-25mm to give the rear wheels that 20 x 9.5 look.
mattchatwin 05-13-2009, 08:42 AM Has anyone here replaced the studs on thier 8th Gen? I was told by a shop that I would have to replace the bearing as well since you have to rip it out to get to the bolts in the back.....is this bs?
I did notice on the weekend with my rims off that you would definately not have room to get into the bolts without taking the hubs off, is this a big deal?
Super6 05-13-2009, 09:08 AM I am currently runing a 12mm spacer in the rear with extended wheel studs from project kics

Super6 can you post pics? What size rims are you running? Staggered with spacers?

Did you do the work? How hard was it and did you have to remove the knuckles or bearings and replace them?
09NBPaCcOrD 05-14-2009, 08:33 AM I went to my local shop and they told me that I could go no more than 10mm in the front and 20mm is perfect for the rear, the under lip they will cut out since rolling wouldn't really work for 20mm (plus it's cleaner). The problem though is that I do not know where to get extended wheel studs for the front from??? RonJon has the ability to make rear hubcentric ones in whatever mm dimension you need, but they don't for the fronts.
Does anybody know what are a good open type of lug nut for the V6 coupe (does it matter I-4/V6) are the patterns different? Thanks for the help!
HereforInfo 05-14-2009, 08:57 AM This thread is worthless without pics!!! :D
