Is this possible? I haven't been able to find a way to set it.

You have to play around with it.....

I seriously hate the auto climate control in my wife's TSX. It's so hard to fine tune compared to the knob in my LX.

You should be able to press "Auto" and then press "Off." It works for me every time. I always do this when the smell of the bad filter kicks in. I need to switch that thing out.

Alright, I was just guessing, I wasn't sure that's it. I'll go out and check right now and get back to you in like 5 minutes.

You are not in a fully automatic mode with the A/C off since you modified a parameter, thus the "AUTO" button will loose the green LED indicator. However, if you just turn the A/C off then everything else (fan speed, air temperature, mix, vent use, etc) will still be automatically regulated.

The freaking A/C compressor turns on every time you turn on the system, no matter if thru 'auto', by hitting the fan button, or any other way. You have to hit the A/C button to turn if off every single time. Annoying as hell, but no other way. I don't care in summer, since you have to run A/C all the time, but in winter is a PITA. What I did (mild winters here) was to set the temp and floor vents then turn it off, and just get a bit or warm air when the car is moving (recirc off); worked for me. The few times it was really cold outside, I turn on the system and A/C off before firing up the engine, so compressor didn't kick in. If you leave the system on (without A/C) all the time, then compressor doesn't kick in, but I like to turn it off. If you live in a cold climate, I'd opt to leave it on (fan in min) rather than engaging the compressor. Compressor is supposed not to come on below freezing, by the way, so you know.

And yes, if you turn A/C off, system gets out of full auto mode, but all other settings stay the same. Problem is if you have 72 and it's 80 outside, it'll never get to 72 without A/C; that's why it's not in full auto anymore. Hope this helps.

There is always the option of setting it lower, so the fan blows harder... that way at least you get some cold air blown to you (like a fan). If you're really really warm, you can always set the temp to "low" which will give you the coldest air possible from the outside.

I do this during the winter months and spring and fall when it isn't damp outside...

There is a reason you want to do this, I understand, but not why? :dunno:

There is a reason you want to do this, I understand, but not why? :dunno:Some people, including myself, don't want the compressor running when its not needed. That compressor will kick in around 32° and when the heats on when its not damp outside (ie, snowing or raining), there's no need to have it on. It just sucks up power and reduces fuel economy. Now when its humid and/or hot out, then you would want to leave it on the fully auto mode without disengaging the A/C...

Yes, but isnt' that what these forums are for? To ask question. To get anwsers for it.

People should learn to keep quiet if they don't have anything nice to say.

This questions has been asked on the Forums many times among other questions that can be easily answered by reading the manual or doing a search on the forum. I just can't believe how anyone who gets a new car can't take the time to read the manual. There are tons of information in there. You should take the time to learn about your new car. You would be amazed at the neat stuff you will find.

So, you're saying everyone should come here to be spoonfed like little children, instead of reading through the manual themselves?

I do have to agree about RTFM, but sometimes the manual is confusing for others, so the question gets asked here, an automotive enthusiast board in hopes that a fellow car lover will be able to answer...

Yes ppl should RTFM, but we shouldn't discourage ppl to ask questions. That is how you discourage ppl from the forum in general. Not like we haven't all done it before at one time or another. I have just learned if I don't want to awnser or help just move on. Somebody else will.

The question maybe asked frequently but what topic currently hasn't? Most are all repeats of some sort of another. Prime example, HID...

Ok I am done back on topic. :)

Your absolutely correct. I don't usually tell people to read the manual but once in a while it just gets under my skin that there are alot of people who don't. Its very important for your cars care and to learn what all the features do. So I apologize to the OP but hopefully this will get him to read it.
