 This thread was started so that we could talk about meets and other gatherings, events ect... and not to clutter the polls since they well be deleted shortly after meet is over.

July is still a possibility. We just need to attract more attention and input from others. Karma and I both have been fighting to make this happen. Only problem is getting enough feedback from everyone to make an informed decision on details. We need to figure out the when, where and what that works best for the majority. The last poll he did was just not getting enough responses to make any decisions.

Karma, I'm hoping that your posting this new poll on V6P as well since I still can not post on that site. Even created a new username and still did not get my confirmation e-mail. Don't know what's up with that site. :dunno:

Summer time is the best time to schedule these meets and hopefully we can get a couple more of them in before Fall.

Come on down. We welcome all. As we said with the last meet, any gen is welcomed. Modded or not. It doesn't matter. In fact I know that my pops is going to be bringing his Civic on the next one so it doesn't even have to be an Accord. So if you have any friends who are Honda enthusiast invite them along.

I may not be able to do anything on V6P, but I have added this information to another forum (Honda-Acura.net) in hopes of attracting a larger outcome. I'll keep you posted as to their thoughts if any.

Noticed that on V6P someone is asking about scheduling something called a "CupCakeMeet" on May 30th. Not sure what that's all about and since I can't reply I can't inquire about it either. I know that some of the attendees from last meet were from V6P so maybe we can combine these two meets.

I'll be home from college, i'm down for whenever over the summer. I live in Plano but I can make it out anywhere to meet up.

July sounds good to me.

Did everyone here vote in the poll thread? We don't have much input on this yet. Want to schedule a date that is most convenient for everyone, but we need your input. Go here to vote for date: http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=30336

OK everyone. Karma is having some personal issues and has been very busy trying to resolve them. :headbash: The two of us have been talking and we think we have a good plan set. He has asked that I help out with getting them posted for everyone to start planning, so here it goes.

Based on the votes that were cast, we have to go with the 3rd week of May. Sorry Clutch, I know you were hoping for the 4th week, but the numbers (although small) tells the results. However, don't fret just yet. Keep reading. Not only are we setting the details for this meet, we are planning ahead and setting the dates for the next two. Yes I said two. We are shooting for a meet every other month throughout the summer and having them also on the third Saturday of each month. This should allow everyone to attend at least one if not more meets for the summer.

The "starting" location will be at the Sonic in Plano on Jupiter. I know, not as fancy as Bone Daddy's but we were looking for something laid back that everyone could enjoy and afford. Plus this place deals with other car meets so they should be able to accommodate us as well. From there we will take a leisure 40 mile drive around Lake Lavon back around to the Sonic in McKinney on University. We might have a few stops along the way for photo ops. Both sites have other restaurants or gas stations nearby for anything else you need such as a bathroom. :paranoid:

Summary of the details so far:

Meet #1: Saturday - May 16th
Starts at: Sonic in Plano - 721 Jupiter - Plano, TX 75074
Ends at: Sonic in McKinney - 312 W. University Drive - McKinney, TX 75069

Meet #2: Saturday - July 18th
Starts at: Sonic in Plano - 721 Jupiter - Plano, TX 75074
Ends at: Sonic in McKinney - 312 W. University Drive - McKinney, TX 75069

Meet #3: Saturday - September 19th
Starts at: Sonic in Plano - 721 Jupiter - Plano, TX 75074
Ends at: Sonic in McKinney - 312 W. University Drive - McKinney, TX 75069

We might alternate the start/finish locations on one of these. We'll see how things go before making that decision. If it will confuse things, we won't.

Now for the time schedule. Last meet didn't give as much time as we wanted and we couldn't get the drive in. So we are setting the start time at 2:00 pm. Somewhere around 5:00 pm we will start the drive. I'm predicting anywhere from 1 - 2 hours for the drive. Like I said, it will be leisure and we may stop for photos. This will put us in the McKinney location between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Several of us on the last meet didn't call it a night until around 9:00 pm. With this schedule, everyone should have plenty of time to converse at both locations. :blah:

Drive details: I'm attaching a map for better viewing purposes, but here is a list of how it is expected. Starting at the Plano Sonic we will travel east on Plano Parkway to FM 544. Turning right (east) to Highway 78. There we will head north (left) to Highway 380 in Farmersville. We will then turn left (west) back to the McKinney Sonic. Total drive distance is 40.2 miles. Less than 2 gallons of gas. When you are ready to call it a night, keep heading west on 380 to 75. This will take you back home. :wavebye:

So there you have it. Hopefully this will work for everyone. Like I said, if you can't make this one, shoot for the next. We just had to get the ball rolling here before time ran out. We also hope that everyone can agree with the arrangements. Again, something had to be set. We think this will be the best for everyone and should make for a relaxed and fun setting. Should we need to tweak future event details will depend on how things go on this one. I am requesting for someone to please forward these details on V6P since I still can not post on their site and Karma is swamped right now. We had some members attend from there last time and I think they would like to know about this one as well. Thanks for everyones input and cooperation. Hope to see you there.

Plans currently are still to be the same. Don't really know of anywhere close by that we would be able to meet to avoid any possible rain issues. Especially on such short notice. I'm hoping the predictions for the weather are as reliable as any other weather predictions in Texas. :paranoid: For those of you who do carry cell phones with internet access I would recommend that you monitor this post as closely as possible on the day of. I will update any information/changes as they become available throughout the day. Also, if for some reason we do need to change locations and find something accommodating close by, I will get someone to hang back to redirect members to the new location. With having both my wife and father bringing their vehicles as well, I'm sure one of us can stay to make sure everyone is informed.

Karma: sorry, I'm gonna have to miss the CCM meet in Austin. I'll be heading down there, but not in the car. You know what I'm talking about.

Aviador: I had mentioned doing this on a monthly schedule before, but was advised that going bi-monthly would be better. Was told that people would get burnt out on meeting each month. Now to me, if your burnt out, just skip one. It's not like it's mandatory. Having it each month does give everyone a better chance of attending at least one if not more. Personally, I would like to have one each month throughout the Summer and then bi-monthly from Fall to Spring. Also, I know we are talking about moving the location around a bit to draw more people and to find the ultimate site. However, I think once we do find this "sweet site" it would make it easier for setting up monthly or bi-monthly meets. BTW, does anyone have any leads as to where we should hold our next one in July? Time is ticking.

Something that was asked to me about our little meets was if we had a name for our group/event. This got me to thinking. Maybe we should try to come up with some kind of name for our meetings. This would make posting of the events easier for people to know a little about us. Along the same lines as the Cup Cake Meet. The name tells you a lot about it. Maybe we could make a little contest out of this. Don't really have a prize to give for the winner here, can't think of anything that I have that the winner would want. At least anything that I would be willing to give away. :lmao: Anyway, what do you guys think. Lets throw out some ideas here and lets get the ball rollin for our next event.

Mike. when i attend the accord meet in houston they "named" themselve the HAG (honda accord group) not the best name i know..but i guess thats a start...

location wise: out of the top of my head imma throw out lake ray hubbard. its in the mesquite/ rockwall region. lake, with bbq pit, scenery okay, since its a lake, we kind of to get there early to avoid family picnic etcc....

activities: if we do decided around lunch time..right next to the spot above ^ theres a place call gengi about $8 bunks per person. buffet. its mongolian grill. i love it. you pick your own stuff and they cook it for you right there fast food style.

date: CCM is aiming our next meet to be July 18...even though last minute touches are beeing add right now the date is pretty much settle. however if not that date. i am down for whatever, just make sure its a weekend cause i have school on weekdays.

i am also down with having the accord meet early in the day...mayb cruise --> lunch then we can attend the CCM meet together. i think about 10-15 accords rolling in together would be an awesome scence!

one more thing. as far as honda accord forums i only notice V6, Gen7 (my opinion is kinda weak since they swtich to new layout), driveaccord.net are the only "active" oness....is there any other accord forums that you guy go to that have active members?? cause that would make it esaier to get the word out.

Guess that would make us DAG. However, we are not exactly limited to Accords. My dad who has come to participate in these events brought his Civic last meet. It started as just Accords, but we have opened it up to all just like you guys have on the CCM. Were just about meeting people with a passion about their cars like you.

location wise: out of the top of my head imma throw out lake ray hubbard.

Lake Ray Hubbard doesn't sound bad. Haven't really been down there yet, but I like the idea of a lake.

i am also down with having the accord meet early in the day...mayb cruise --> lunch then we can attend the CCM meet together. i think about 10-15 accords rolling in together would be an awesome scence!

The 18th is the date we have set for our next one at 2:00 pm. Although the details for the meet are not set in stone, the date is. The time could be adjusted if everyone agrees. Meeting at one location and doing our drive over to the CCM would be great. We did have members from our group meet up at a gas station nearby and drove over to the CCM last time. Have no problem doing this again.

one more thing. as far as honda accord forums i only notice V6, Gen7, driveaccord.net are the only "active" oness....is there any other accord forums that you guy go to that have active members?? cause that would make it esaier to get the word out.

I have put info about our meets on two other sites, DI (dallasimports.net) and Honda-Acura.net. No responses at all from HA, but the DI people are active. I know their were some from there at the last CCM.

I need some feedback from my fellow members here. Especially those who have attended past meets (AznRolla, chemik, karma, likai19870615, luisaven06, shamutruck, skylessknight). What are your thoughts on this next meet? Any input would help. I like the idea of merging ours with the CCM. Their last one was amazing. Now is the time to speak up. Let's get things set in motion.

Ty, let me know ASAP about the details for the CCM#5. The details on it will help with setting up ours.

Well, it looks like the next Cupcake Meet is also on the 18th of July between 5p and 8p at Huffines Park in Richardson. I like the idea of meeting at one location and driving over to the CCM. So with that being said, I was wondering what you guys think about keeping our original plans of meeting at the Sonic in Plano again at our scheduled time of 2p and then around 4-4:30, head over to the CCM? If not at the Sonic itself, maybe one of the parking lots around there that would be vacant for the weekend. What are ya'lls thoughts?

I don't think I'll be able to make up to the DFW area on the weekend of the 18th... I need as many hours as I can get in at work.

I will be up there weekend of the 4th if anybody is up for anything.

Remember, FRS radios for the guys that go up there!!

Sorry you won't be able to make it Azn. I can understand needing hours at work though. Sorry to say that I can not do anything on the 4th weekend. It's the wife and I anniversary and we have a family reunion that weekend as well. Going to be busy. Haven't forgotten about the radios. :lmao:

Hey you know what might be fun one day? Maybe hitting up that Malibu Speedzone off of 35 in Dallas! If theres enough people that is willing to show up, that place would be great. It was a little pricey last time I went, but being able to race and screw around somewhere safe is definetly a good thing...

I know there were a few of us that was wanting to really push limits during the drive... I for one wanted to screw off alot more, but just didnt feel secure enough cuz my radar detector was bugging out on me.

Yeah I hear ya. Running up on that one hidden on the side didn't help any either. Speedzone does sound fun and since they just rebuilt a couple of their tracks I'm curious to see how it is. I would be down for doing this for the day if I have the day off and if others are interested in attending as well.

there were a $hit load of cops in a sense out there in all them smaller towns... places i know not to speed are in the city, and in smaller towns...

i thought there was that one stretch of like 3/4 mile and there were 3 of them buggers out there.

May have been. Not only was I trying to watch out for them, but I was trying to keep an eye on the group to make sure no one fell behind.

Basic bolt-ons and plug-n-play kits, yes. Installing a supercharger or turbo into your Accord, which requires a bunch of fabrication and what not.....no! But i'll watch.

Although I have installed both of those, I haven't done so on an 8th gen. I don't think it would be much different, but I know the exhaust took about an hour and the sway about 30 min. Shouldn't be that difficult, but we are only talking about spending an hour at the pre-meet before we head to the CCM.

Now setting up another meet at a different date could be done for this. I've heard of others doing this. I'm looking at installing my front sway and my newly arrived Cusco TSX under body brace. Although I hope to have this done this weekend if I can bear the heat long enough.

Kai: karma recently got married. I haven't been able to actually talk with him for a while since he's been busy with that and I've been getting tossed all around at work. Stupid management. I hope he will still be able to make this next meet. Haven't received a confirmation from him yet. What about you? Are you going to make it to this one?

tnel: My work schedule is a bit crazy at the moment, but I never know when I'll have some free time. Keep us posted when you get the goods and I'll see what I can do to help. Denton may be a little bit of a drive, but hey, it's for a fellow DA member so I'll lend a hand if time permits.

Meet at the same place as last time at the Sonic in Plano on Jupiter Rd. Meet time is at 2:00 pm. Really need to be there no later than 2:30 since we'll probably be heading over to the park shortly after that. Ty and I need to get there early to start setting things up.
