a friend of mine just did the acura switchblade key mod for his 7th gen accord sedan. however, ive been reading on DA that for the 8th gen sedans to do the switchblade key mod there is some pretty intensive soldering and rewiring that needs to be done. (apparently the coupe is just a simple swap)

my friend with the 7th gen said that he just bought a brand new acura tl switchblade key and had our local honda dealership cut the key and reprogram the transmitter inside.

can i do this with my 8th gen sedan?

i read up on the switchblade mod for the 8th gen sedans and the mod seems a little too difficult for me and a little too invasive.

any input from the sedan guys?

See my post in the thread you linked. Yes, unfortunately there is not a easy plug and play option for the 8th gen sedan if you want to stay somewhat OEM.

ARGH! i was so hoping for a plug and play option.

i was talking with my friend who works as a honda tech and he said he can program and cut the key for me for free. thats why i thought itd be so easy to just get a TSX or TL key and give it to him.

DOH!

i dont really trust myself to do the resoldering and moving around the buttons and stuff.
