Hey guys, I have been recently trying to install my aftermarket navi, Clarion MAX685BT and The NAX980HD. I have actually had the Double din for quite sometime and ever since i first installed it I have always had a problem with the illumination wire (it does not dim when I turn the head lights on). On the harness that I purchased from autotoys it has two wires, and all orange wire (dimmer) and a orange w/ White stripe (illumination). I think they are pins 1 and 13 respectively (on the 24 pin radio harness). On my clarion unit it only has one orange and white stripped wire (illumination). On installing my Navigation unit I decided to investigate and see why exactly the illumination wire was not properly functioning. I checked all the connections and they were all snug and good, but when looking at the actual Honda radio plug I found out that the wires that are supposed to be illumination and dimmer are not present (that would mean that there are no wires that come into the aftermarket radio harness at the 1 and 13 spot, they are non-exsistant. Now on the wiring diagrams that have bee posted is says that a non prem sound 1 disc cd player should have this wire (which is what I have 2008 Honda Accord EX i4), but it is not there! any ideas as to where this illumination wire could be??? Its not a must, but more of a desire.

On a seperate note I figured that I could tap into the headlights behind thefuse box, and that did not seem too work. Could someone please provide me with a color and location of this wire. Thanks!

i got mine at the hazard button.......don't remember the exact color though, sorry.......if you've got a digital voltmeter it should be relatively easy to find tho

Unfortunately I do not have my digital voltmeter with me (college student), but there are not too many wires in the hazard so thanks for the Idea!!

Great!!! the hazard light worked... it is a 6 pin white harness. I just tapped into the orange wire on the hazard light harness and it works like a charm! thanks again!
