I received a ticket for speeding this morning around 2:30 after I got off work. Everything was good, I was saved 10 miles less because the CHP officer was nice. But anyways. a friend of mine told me that when I pay for my citation, I should pay extra (i.e. $2-$5), in which then the court will send me a money order for the extra amount. My friend (just got off prison) informed me that the C.O's in prison had told him that they (the c.o's) have clean record because they never cashed in that money order. in conclusion, have any of you guys heard anything like this? if we dont cash the money order, the citation will stay off our file? I just went to traffic school in January and yes, I know that I can't be going to traffic school again within 18 months. But, there is a CA law that says I can.

No, this is an old-wife's tale, doesn't work.

And I would not recommend taking any advice like this from someone who just got out of prison, he probably did not have the best judgement in the first place.

You've already got a 10 MPH reduction, it's far more than most people will ever get, just own up to your own action and deal with the consquences.

You're right. I'll probably just attend traffic school again. Honestly, traffic school was my first thought; but the thing about paying extra did cross my mind.

Before you throw your money and time away with traffic school, you need a judge's permission to take it again if less than 18 months (it's 12 in TX). Find out what's the deal with that. Good luck.
